Chic,
Glad it worked out, it looks awesome
Now if I can just figure a way to keep cool in the garage short of ice cubes in my shorts I could get some work done on the avenger and the Trojan.
How are you going to do the window bubbles, can't wait to see them installed

BTW, the pilot and navigator/radioman look awesome

Larry/Noah - Because of the curve of the fuse, I will have to do some work inside the fuse to square up the blisters. About to cut a hole in the fuse, should be interesting. Will finally install the blisters once the fuse is glassed. Hopefully, next late week. Larry, the radio/observer is a bit toooooo dark. Ha, Ha. Need to lighten him up a bit and add a mustache. Smile. OK - I felt brave and took the plunge. I cut into the port side since I already had it open and unplanked in order to make future control hook ups. The fuse will be strengthen up at this section, and then planked - after the blisters are installed and controls connected. I have a British Flag that will hang in one blister and the head/shoulders of another guy will be seen in the other blister. I have a small hatch at the bottom of the fuse in front of the tail wheel to access this area in the future (Larry's idea) as can be seen in one of the photos. Noah, Larry, and our north of the border builder: I thank all of you guys for your great ideas that I have used in this build. Chic

Just cut starboard side hole, I'm Air Force, I just learned that Navy talk. The way I remember it is "Port" being the shortest word between Port and Starboard, thus it must be the "Left" side since it is the shortest word between "Left" and "Right". "Starboard" being the longest word between the two must apply to the word "Right" since it has more letters then "Left". Ha, Ha, even an Air Force guy can figure Navy talk. Cutting and positioning the two holes wasn't as hard as I expected. As noted earlier, I will secure the blisters to the inside wall of the fuse using the lips on the blisters once the fuse is glassed. There are gaps that will have to be filled by wood I guess. Chic

Me Four
Finally cooled down enough to get into the garage with the Avenger, lo and behold the gear doors have decided to undo themselves from the gear.
Will have to figure a way to reattach after I sand them down a bit as the wood has seemed to swell a bit...does it ever get easier?????
Can't wait to see your fuse glassed and primed, the way your going I'm thinking you're a shoe in to be invited to Top Gun next year (can I get your autograph LOL)

TopGun - Wow, got to get pass the 2018 AMA RC Sport Scale Class first. You guys are toooooo nice. I'm hoping since like all of us, I am running out of birthdays. Ha, Ha, Ha.

To see the blisters, go to: Avenger kit difference - WWII - Britmodeller.com

Nice photos of the sides of the fuse (scroll down) showing the blisters. The black and mostly all white Avenger is the one I am modelling (TBF-1C JZ150). Again, thanks guys. Will get to glassing this weekend. Doing servo connections and reinforcement of the fuse today. Chic

Colonel, you are killing me. Ha, Ha. Been waiting to get outside to sand this beast (Heat/Rain). Been doing small stuff like finishing the cockpit instrument panel, putting primer on the constructed Yagi antennas that sits under the outboard sections of the wings, etc. If you want pictures of that stuff, so be it. Smile. Working on connecting the rudder/elevator servo pushrod/pull-pull and adding strength to the open section of the fuse before closing it all up. Rain forecasted for the next 5 days or so. I'm not a Navy guy who likes rain. Ha, Ha. Chic

Chic,
Nice work, I built my antenna and pitot tube and trying to figure out how to have them be removable for transport....
Heat, what are you talking low 80's LOL, try 106 to 111 with 20 to 30% humidity.... if you try spraying paint it dries before it hits the surface
On the upside, I got the bomb bay doors working and now have to redo the gear doors as they separated from the gear, it never ends I tell ya
Will turn the beast over this weekend and start setting up the throws finally
working on gluing the canopy into the frames on the Trojan, will have to do a little body work where they meet but I just bought a 50 gallon drum of micro balloons so I should just have enough HA!!!!!!!!
Stay well brother and don't forget your umbrella

Great hearing from ya my brother. I'm screaming here --- 50 gallon drum of micro balloons. WOW, had to put myself back in the chair after that line. I am putting brass tubing into the wing to squeeze the antennas and the pitot tube into the wing and remove to transport and after judging (to fly). Was thinking about magnets but knowing me, I would either knock them off or move them out of position during movement when judging. 30% humidity, you guys must build in your bathing suits. WOW. I haven't touched the bomb bay doors in awhile. Now you got me afraid to retest them. Stay well and stay safe Brother. Chic

Yesterday in the shop, I handed Shirley what I called, the completed instrument panel, to place on a table and she said, "It is not complete, there is a hole in the instrument panel - WHY"? I told her that particular instrument is in the maintenance shop for repair. She said, "What is wrong with it". I told her the glass on the face of the instrument shattered. She said, "That could be dangerous for the pilot." I said, "Now you got it Sweetheart." Later on that evening, she walked up behind me and hit me on the head with a pillow. She hollered at me, "That thing is not real, how can the glass be broken." I started laughing and of course, I got hit again. Smile. Chic

Chic,
Gotta love Shirley, she at least gets it, just think it could have been with the frying pan.
My wife on the other hand thinks that it's just a money eating machine along with my trains
On the upside she RARELY comes into the work shop which is a good thing
Will remove the control horns from the air valves today and try and start to setup the radio so I can start setting up the throws on my days off next week, I think I have 3 days off.

BTW, going to the Miramar show next month and according to the website there will be an Avenger there, any pix you need?

Later brother

Larry

Larry - Larry: The Miramar Show is one show to see for sure. Don't know what I'm gonna do with girlfriend. Photos: If it has the rear window that the stinger exits, and the 4 side windows (both triangular) 2 per side at the very rear of each side. I could really use those shots. Also, would like photos of the exhaust pipe and its exit point. Stay well and Stay safe. Chic

Chic, The instrument panel looks great! Was wondering if you were planning on putting the IMAC sequence diagram on the panel... the pilot will need to have something to follow along with when you put the avenger through its paces to test out that extra rudder and elevator throw you are putting in there for me! hahahah :-)
