Charlie Kellogg's TBM Avenger Build

Chic,
I only have one word "fantabulous" it will certainly be a hit when you take it to top gun
For some reason I'm not getting notifications when someone posts to the forum, bummer
On another note, finally finished the 1st wing panel, fixed and repainted just checked the other one and it seems okay but I am going to Hysol the wing tube and add T88 epoxy to all the ribs I can get to.
Friend will be back sometime next month and I can finally get it balanced and ready to maiden once again.
Hopefully will start the wing fillets on the Trojan at the end of the week as long as the temps cooperate.
Larry

Hey Boyd, thank you. Also great hearing from you. Boyd, I expect you to keep me in check. Boyd, I have to tackle two more models. One a Spad 7 that I converted from a Balsa USA Spad 13. And, second, an all wooden jet (Sea Vixen, plans by Kerry Sterner). Then, cross my heart and hope to die, I promise to quit detailing model airplanes before I "DO" run out of birthdays. Ha, Ha. Send prayers my way to ensure that I will have a few birthdays left. Again, Thanks Boyd, keep watching. Chic

Larry - I told Shirley to pick out the house she likes and I'll buy it. I said all I want is a two car garage, and a walk out basement. Needless to say, I didn't get any of what I wanted. She said, "Well there is a shed out back with an attached car port that you could use for a workshop. It was a 20ft x 20ft pad. The car port was 10ft x 20ft and the shed was 10ft x 20ft. So I converted the car port into an enclosed area that I house my models in and turned the 10ft x 20ft shed into the workshop you see. When you put the Avenger together, as you see, that 10ft width gets nearly smothered up. But I'm blessed to have that much room. At least it hasn't been used as another closet for Shirley. (Not Yet) Ha, Ha, Ha. Chic

Chic,
Maybe it's a GOOD thing the girls didn't meet, they sound like 2 of a kind.
I have 1/2 the 2 car garage for the Avenger Fuselage and the other half holds the wifes' mustang convertible, she is NOT happy about sharing the garage with it and would love for me to move it.
I told her let's buy a house with a 4 car garage and was waiting for the knife to come sailing across the room... luckily she just said an EMPHATIC NO!!!!!!
My workshop is in a 10 x 20 single car garage and it's tough working on the trojan with the 84" wing and NO Air Conditioning.
Started working on the 2nd wing half of the Avenger but alas the daughter came last night to clean up??? as the wife has been away and decided to sleep here in the room right next to the workshop so I here I sit waiting for her to get her butt out of bed (9:11 here as I write this)
Can't wait to see the next color on the plane....

Well Shirley did go halves on the window a/c and heater unit. I'm on my second unit now. Ha, Ha. Moved my daughter out and across the Potomac River into Maryland and all is happy at my house. My mother in law loves me dearly but she hates or looks crosseyed at everybody else. Go figure. About ready to spray the grey on now (3:50pm EST). Took most of the day to paper and tape off the model. This puppy is BIG. Chic

You are far toooo kind Larry. This being my first full scale model, I have hit a wall. I NEED help. The round soft tubing did not give me the effect I sought after. As you can see by the photos, the soft edge I was looking for, did not happen. Do I sand the edges of where the two colors meet and repaint with a small airbrush or WHAT!!!!! I'm lost, I do not know what to do.

Chic,
If it were me I'd use a small air brush and do a blend, maybe use some 600 grit paper or 0 steel wool so you don't destroy what's already painted.
You may want to try it first on a piece of scrap to practice the blend before doing it on the awesome build.
I know you will get it right
