Noah - I'm scared to death to weather the bottom of the white colored wings/stab/elevators, soooooooooo, you know I didn't have the a#$ to hand paint the details. All decals. Going to attempt weathering tomorrow. Thanks Noah. Chic

You'll be fine, Chic... Look what you have accomplished so far! It's outstanding!

I only asked if it was stencils because they appeared to damn fast! I was wondering how it could be possible to lay all those colors down so efficiently!

Decals, or not, it looks amazing!!!

Keep plugging, my friend!

Thanks My Friend, you and the fellow Avenger builders are the best. After our heat wave, I understand the dilemma Larry is going through. But he too, is also plugging his way through it all. Chic

Hi
@ Larry. Thanks for your input. Apparently the landing lights you pointed out, and which I completely missed, are actually from the same source as these made in Austria from UNILIGHT.
@Chic. Thanks again for your input. Yes I now have the TRUMPETER kit which my cousin brought over. The included droppable fuel tank in the plastic kit looks like it is the 100 gal tank. Since then, I managed to find the book, which I had forgoten I had and which contained detailed drawings of the AVENGER. It is the Model Airplane News scale drawing book of various aircraft - the SCALE AICRAFT DRAWINGS Vol.2. There I have all the info needed. The above photo was taken from the Grumman Avenger manual which clearly shows the seam line as vertical as opposed to the kit one which is horizontal. Probably they are two different tanks which the Avenger carried. The above photo was the th smaller 58 gal tank and the kit one seems to be the 100 gal tank. Highly likely that they both may have had different construction methods/
Anyway, thanks again guys. Highly appreciated.
BTW Chic...the Avenger is very nice. I like the British camo scheme. Looking forward to more photos
Reuben

OK Guys, I tried the Klass Kote weathering technique by spraying and wiping the spray off with thinner until satisfied. It worked beautifully. It lite up so well - the panel lines, rivets, and hatch's. HOWEVER, it also highlighted the sanding lines and sanding scratches within the white paint. Looks like I will have to repaint the white on the bottom of the wings. The fuse looks fine and awaits the weathering technique. Well, I am not intimidated with the weathering. Well, I'll wait until I do the black cowl and camo on the upper wing halves with the lighter color wash. Smile. Chic

Ugh! That stinks... but at least you don't have to re-do the camouflage, right? (at least it's not the top of the wings!)

I am excited to see the results of your weathering, Chic

Noah - I re-shoot the bottom of the wings Sunday, looks great. Will weather the wings Friday. Will post before/after photos. The weathering system by Dave Platt is foolproof. Trust me, if I can do, it is foolproof. The fuse - hummmmm, will let you know but after a close look, may be fine. Thanks to Rob and Alan on RCScalebuilder for their direct advice. Chic

Wings (bottom) weathered. Fuse and Stab are next. Wasn't as hard as I made it out to be. Chic

The wings in the previous posting are clean. These are weathered, dirty.

Chic,
Looks pretty good. Just a tip... By the hinges add a little streak behind each one. Dirt collects around stuff on real planes and then leaves a tell tale mark.

Wow - don't quite know how to respond to those kind words. Thank you guys, Thank you. Working on the left side parts tomorrow. Hope to hit the cowl area by weekend with a light color wash. Will use the same color wash on the camo areas. The exhaust and oil stains will come toward the end. Stay with me guys, could not do it without you. Chic

Chic,
stupendous. Glad Ranger agrees with me about the carrier deck. Tell Shirley it's only a temporary 200SF.

Chic,
send her anytime you want. She is probably much nicer than my mother Inlaw ever was and definitely much prettier. BTW, tell her we have a Nordstroms and a ton of high end stores in Scottsdale 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ha, Ha - Oooooooo Hell To The No. I won't tell her that. That is all she needs to hear. At least they don't know her first name as the local Nordstrom and TJMax stores do here, Just finished the right side of the fuse. Will wait a couple of hours before I begin work on the left side of the fuse. Still have the bottom of the stab, rudder/fin, top of the wings camo, and the black cowl area. Slowly working on it all guys, stay with me. Chic
