Indeed! BobH is correct... woot-worthy!
Looks great, Chic. Congrats on the stunning results!
Watching your's come together sends waves of regret through me for having left mine behind in Oklahoma City.
Maybe I'll have to build another!

You guys are great for the weekly kick in the butt that keeps me going. Many, many thanks to all of you. Needless to say, every time I put steelwool to work on the fuse, wings, etc. I am sweating like a mule with intimidation and anxiety. Heck, I'll have less anxious moments on this birds maiden flight. One other wing left to rub out. Question: Now that the weathering is about over, would you guys apply a clear matt coat (2-Part Paint) over the whole airframe or leave it alone with the finish as the weathering leaves the finish. Again, thanks guys. Chic

Chic, congrats on how the Avenger turned out! I’m beyond words.... so cool. I am so excited to see the carrier deck build on RCU I can’t stand it!
Tell Shirley she is absolutely welcome to come and visit the girls and I during the construction of the carrier. We have a beautiful high end mall about 8 miles from my house. Tell her the guest room has a beautiful view of Lake Washington and there is a Tiffany’s just down the street from my office, their summer line is stunning! Make sure she brings your credit card when she comes! Hahahahaha.
Well done brother... I miss you guys!

Ranger1-00, no hard feelings but you can keep your HIGH END Mall and Tiffany's ALL to yourself. If I tell her that - there is no telling what her response will be. Larry - that goes for you tooooo. Ha, Ha. Now that is funny but she will never hear it. When you visit in late August, not one word of that, ya hear? Smile. Miss ya too Colonel. See ya soon. Chic

Ranger,
What a GREAT Idea, Shirley can visit you first and then come to Arizona in case she misses any stores there.
Chic, you are more than welcome to use my Lowes discount for the lumber need for the carrier
Can't wait to see her put together

Chic,
Here are some facts for your flight deck
Length 872 feet / 1/5 scale = appx 174 ft
Beam 147 ft 6 inches / 1/5 scale = appx 29 ft 6 inches
So that being said you would need the following
4,019 4' x 8' sheets of 1/2" plywood this doesn't include the Island
Apprx 200+ 2" x 4's
100 lbs of screws
30-40 gallons of paint
Oh and Shirley's blessing, I figure you have a better chance of getting a new Corvette

Should you need any pix or statistics on the second Yorktown (CV-10), I may be of help with the Essex class carrier. I volunteer on CV-10 and has been a delight for the couple years I've been there.

Ray - Larry - Ranger - I have bad news. The carrier was sent to the bottom of the local pond. Two Japanese torpedoes took out your well planned creation and sent it to the bottom. Good riddens to that idea of yours. SMILE. Hey Ray, what kind of aircraft do you have there behind you? Chic

Ray,
Nice shot of the hanger deck but if the guy in the pix would have moved we could have seen more
Chic, just read the After Action Report "Yorktown escaped under heavy smoke screen from the boilers, waiting to accept aircraft"
So that being said

Further behind is a F6F, F4U, TBM, F4F, and an SBD. Stearman further fwd hanging from the ceiling. Later acft are on the flight deck.
Now , I can't delete that pix. That is just too much of me for me.

Two seaters were trainers. Such small jet engines from this generation. of aircraft.
