OK guys, just came back from Shirley's doctors appt. (2nd opinion). She is having lower back surgery Friday. Vertebra squeezing/pinching a nerve in her lower back. So you know what that means - I will be limited in my time in the shop. Hopefully she sleeps a lot and gets back on her feet "soon". Keep her in your prayers guys. Chic

Chic, so sorry to hear Shirley is not feeling 100%. Hope it resolves ASAP. Best wishes for this Friday.
Regarding hoe close the arms should attach to the doors, I don't think that's critical. Close, but not so near the edge that the two opposing arms hit each other when the doors are closed.

OK guys first things first - Larry, Shirley enjoyed your email to her. She especially liked knowing you offered her another shoulder since mine may be away in the shop. Noah, Shirley said she appreciates your wishing her problem to resolve ASAP. She told me all of my modeling friends are some thoughtful, great, guys. I asked her, "Who are you talking about - then I smiled." Thanks guys from both of us.
NOAH - The "MAGIC" you told me that would come in your #2329 posting has arrived - at least for half of the bomb bay. Air cylinder, torque rod/arms, and air lines have all been installed, attached, and connected. It worked smoothly on the very first try, can you believe it. Shirley keep pressing the compressor on/off switch as I switched air lines from the open to the closed position at least 8 times just to see it work. She told me how proud she was of my - Listening to you guys. Is she trying to say I don't listen???? Smile, "Magic" Noah, it all came together as you and Larry said it would. Minor adjustments will be needed. Chic

Larry, Noah, Ranger 1, I seriously thank all of you for your thoughts, email, and posts expressing your concern for Shirley. She made it through the surgery very, very well. She may come home Sunday since she is doing well. She is walking around the hospital, eating fairly well, and sleeping with little pain. Guys thank you with all my heart. It means a lot. Chic

Noah, I am looking ahead while I have this down time. How did you sharpen the brass tube to punch the holes in the styrene? I have tried using a round file but not really getting a sharp edge. I have the same matte around the shop but I have to find it - Ha, ha. Thanks guys. Chic

Sometimes a heavier hammer is just as effective as sharpening the tool!
Kidding. Glad it's sorted.
Also very glad to hear Shirley is recovering well.
All my best to you both!

This care giver stuff is no joke, trust me. Between calls from Shirley I was able to fabricate the bomb bay door lightening holes and plates. Need to punch the holes in the styrene plate at the top of the photo. All four plates are cut out, very time consuming, thanks Shirley for the time to stay in the house and tend to you. She is getting better each day. Working hard to get back to her daily need for "Retail Therapy". Bless her heart. Chic

Very nice, and I thought I had a touch of OCD. At least Shirley gives you a break from the tedium of doing all those holes and cut outs. I on the other hand am trying my best NOT to put a hammer to the T28, while trying to get the 2nd middle door to sit properly
Tell Shirley I hope she is feeling better so you take her out to Ruth Chris for a REAL steak dinner
Later Bro

Larry, you are sooooo right. After this care-giver stuff has passed, trust me this care-giver stuff is "NO JOKE". Any hoooo, I'm gonna take her out for a steak dinner all right, I'm taking me out and she can come along. Smile. She doesn't eat meat but "I DO". And Ruth Chris' "Cowboy Steak" is awaiting my arrival. I can only afford to go there once a quarter. Here in the D.C. area, a dinner at Ruth Chris will set you back $150 easy. My Avenger needs the money. Smile. Stay well guys. Chic

Chic, I had to finally comment, been sitting on the sidelines in total admiration ! Incredible build and an asweome fraternity of comments from your brotherhood. So glad to see RC is so alive and well with incredible thought process and engineering.
I hope we can shake hands one day at Warbirds over Deleware, looking forward to see this beast take to the sky's.
Best regards
Lou

Chic,
You've it a nerve. Ruth's Chris is a great place to get a steak. I don't think you can beat there's anywhere. My mouth is wattering now. Just wish we had one here in OKC.
Cutting the holes is a meticulous job but well worth the trouble.
Glad all is going well.
Boyd.

Boyd, so many thanks for your encouragement. Larry was right about being OCD, especially if you had to create those holes more than once. Don't ask me how I know. So happy to be seriously back at it. My mouth is watering also with you bringing it back up - Cowboy Steak, hummmmm. Ooops, Shirley just called me. Chic
