Quiet - I just put her to bed for the night. I'm too tired to go to the shop to do any more work tonight, guess I'll turn in myself. I have plenty of respect for caregivers - for sure. She did tell me to go to the shop while she took an afternoon nap. I took the finished bomb bay door panels (4) and installed the simulated weight lightening (.010 styrene) panels (4). Thought I was gonna hurt my right hand again putting in all those little, tiny, itty bitty, miniature, screws. I thought the styrene was a bit flimsy so I installed some balsa under the styrene for support. Will reinstall the bomb bay door panels tomorrow and run the airlines to check for full operation. Then on to the tail feathers, etc. Chic

Thanks Big Brother --- BUT --- when your daughter gives you a pair of clogs with that doggone "Mouse" on them ...................., you get the picture. The story behind the "Mouse" shoes is - I took Shirley to Disneyworld enroute to Dustin "B's" Jet Camp in Orlando. Went to take photo with the "Mouse". The Mouse grabbed Shirley's hand and ran down a long hallway with her in toll and went into a room and closed the door. I hollered out to him, "She is a High Maintenance Lady, he immediately flew out the door and ran with her back up the hallway. He put her hand back into mine. We took a picture with no other words spoken between the three of us. Should of kept my mouth shut - smile. Chic

You are soooooooo easy LOL, don't know what made me look at the shoe it just kind of stood out.....
Am now angsting about cutting the canopy frame while I think about the easiest way to hinge the main lower gear doors on the Trojan
I will send you some pix of the electric festival we are having at the field this weekend unless the weatherman is right and we get rained out
Stay well brother

OK guys, let me know if I am on the right track when I get back on the build. Just closing the bay doors reveals a perfect 1/8" gap between the two shells on each door side. Is that what is typical/normal for the bay doors when they are closed or am I doing something wrong? I feel as though something is not right. Do I have the piano hinges mounted the wrong way thus creating the gap? Thanks Guys. Chic

Chic,
If my failing memory serves me we had the same problem. What we did was attach an 1/8" x 1/4" wide piece to one half of the clam shell underneath and then add another piece and sanded it down to the door
Hope this helps

yeah, i'm still puzzling over this, too.
I'm not sure how or why i had little to no gap.
But i agree with Larry that filling with scrap, sanding to match, smoothing with putty, and paining will make it go away in "short" order (except for all the long steps I just detailed).

Thanks Brothers - Just tried a piece of triangular stock and it looks like a great fit. Will glue it to one half of the shell and sand it down even with the shell doors. Great idea. Girlfriend is freely moving about. Took her out for a car ride for some air and lunch yesterday to get sandwiches from Chick Fil a and sit in the car by the Potomac River (romantic stuff) to eat lunch, Ha, Ha. Thanks for keeping tabs on me. Chic

Frustration level has been reached. I can not get the doors to fully close properly on both ends. I have started moving the torque rod pads up and down on either end trying to get the arms to fully pull the shells close. I took some hours off and I looked back through this build and settled at Peter's #1297 post, page 52. After carefully observing the photo, I am now about to refit the "L" shaped connectors on my clam shells as he has done and hope I can get a better fit. Looking at Pete's post, I see where my "L" connectors/torque arms were installed further away from the center edge of the clam shell versus where he has located the connectors/torque arms on his clam shells much closer to the center edge thus, I think, giving more leverage to the movement of the air cylinder rods. I will let it go for the evening. Far toooo burnt and don't want to destroy the airframe. I'll work it out and get back to you guys. Chic

Got a couple of hours to visit the shop today. Worked on the two hatch panels (receiver switches and the air fillers). Took Noah's led and used the Life Raft Hatches on both the port and starboard sides. I finished the air filler hatch panel. Can not attach the panel door to the fuse until after I glass the fuse. The piece in the middle of the hatch panel provided the curvature for the fit tight to the fuse. Will put small magnets at the top of the hatch panel and on the fuse for closure. Will use "hidden hinges" to attach the hatch panel to the fuse. Working on the two switch template and will install tomorrow if I can get out there. Smile . Chic

Guys, I just can't catch a break. My daughter is having surgery tomorrow to remove her thyroid gland. Now I have to wheel Shirley from Alexandria, VA to Baltimore, MD for the next several days for us to visit with her while she is in the hospital healing. Once she is home, at least for another week, I will be taking her across the Potomac River to our daughters house. She has two (TWO) Cane Corso dogs. They love me but I don't like them. They are the size of miniature ponies. Why me "Lord" - what did I ever do ............
I did work on the Bombay doors today and I finally got one half of them to work properly - YEAAAAAAAA
Shirley is calling, got to go. Back to work as soon as I can. Now Boyd, you understand why I asked to put my application on hold.

Chic, hope the surgery was smooth and the recovery is on pace.
Tough stretch!
At least you have the ponies as a distraction!
Stay well. Nice you are able to be there for your family.
Best
