Larry thanks for your contribution. What has really changed? Where the incidences changed?

Reuben
You will find some of the ribs are a slightly different size, incidences did not change. Was just frustrating.

Carl - You just broke my heart. Damn - she looks GREAT in the air. That wasn't your Round 1 flight was it? Sorry hearing that - It wasn't the news I was waiting to hear. What was your Static Score? Can you rebuild considering it was a ten foot fly-by? Chic

It crashed on the second round. If the wing fold area had stayed intact i would consider rebuilding it but one wing ripped completely off and the nose was demolished all the way back to the leading edge of the wing. Id just rather build a new one.

Carl,
So sorry to hear about the loss, my friend was in the tent next to you yesterday and was awed with the work.
I know the feeling of losing a plane you put your heart and sole into as I lost a P-38 into the Great South Bay on Long Island NY, I did manage to salvage the engines.
I hope you can salvage the engine, gear and electronics...
What a shame
I still have my plans, a bit beat up but you are welcome to them

Carl - I have a Fokker F-27 or a F-28 Twin Mustang you can build for next years Top Gun. Larry has dibs on another dual engine airframe. Agree with Larry. The picture is painful. Again, sorry to hear what happen. Chic

Oh, no, Carl.

So sorry to see. Very sad sight indeed. But glad to hear you remain interested in building another.

Carl, sorry to see a wonderful plane being lost. Looks like retracts are still fine from the looks of it. Hope they still are.
Larry sorry for the late reply but I had to format my harddrive and did not have time to be on pc. On the bottom right hand side of the fuselage plan there is marked "rev". If I recall it was beneath the title area of the plan. Would this be the revised version or one of the earlier batch of plans? I also browsed the net and unfortunately BELAIR in UK and FUNMODELLBAU in Germany do not list cutting of any of the designer's plans. Presumably, only Precision Cut Kits seem to be the only ones cutting this plane. We will see anyway. Thanks again Larry.

Wow, I do remember talking to Charlie about my having to re-cut a new set of ribs (center section) because of the misfit. Charlie himself cut my kit and even he had a few odds and ends to clean up. Chic

From what Charlie told me he told Larry at PCK that he had a new set of planes and supposedly Larry said he wasn't going to redigitize them.
It didn't hurt the build but was more of a head scratch as it was the first scale kit my friend and I built... we muddled through and made modifications where needed
Chic, the kit you got might have had parts from the original plans that were left over from previous cuttings
Perseverance is the key

RE: plans revisions

The only issues that I had were related to the misaligned rear spar notches in the wing ribs. Some had the notches cut in the wrong place.

The bottom main spar notches, and the leading edge notches, all lined up in each wing rib, so here's what I did:

Charlie Kellogg's TBM Avenger Build - Page 5 - RCU Forums

Didn't take long to modify the notches and remedy the "situation."

I certainly would not let this dissuade you from embarking on this Avenger project!

Noah

Agree with Noah. Took very little time to make any and all corrections. Starting work on fuse rivets. Whew....... Thanks Chad, a few swipes of denatured alcohol and an investment in Scotch tape, and the results are beautiful. Chic

Noah,

You know Steve, he always has to may projects going at one time. Some call it ADD. I agree. Ha!.

He has not flown it yet. He's trying to get some of his other projects done.

BTW - I have not made much progress on the Tigercat. I have been working 7 days a week and have not had much time to commit to the models.

What is your next project to get back into the hobby?

Larry - Leave those Mouse Ears on my wall - alone. They remind me of when I took Shirley to Disney World and we went to take a photo with the Mouse and he grabbed her hand and ran down the hallway to another door. I hollered to him that "SHE" is High Maintenance. Needless to say he quickly returned her to me. Smile. Guys I have a Ma/Pa Hardware store up the street from me and he told me about the best Filler/Primer he knows. Gave me a can to try out. My goodness gracious, it sprays well, coats well, dries quickly, and sands smooth as wiping a babies butt with baby oil. He told me stop using the Duplicolor. I totally agree with him. Give it a try guys, you will not be disappointed - At All. Working on wings now. Chic

Boyd - As my buddy tells me on a regular basis, "YOU" are running out of birthdays. So I'll continue to fly prop and jet airplanes but I won't be putting all this detailed effort into maybe but ONE more build. I love doing this but I am certainly over my head., You my friend are the Master Builder. Thanks for the encouragement. Chic.

Chic,

You are so right about the birthdays.

I'm hoping to join you and Larry in retirement in about 1 more year.

I too, cannot spend the amount of time it takes for every airplane to give that much detail also.

Mine will stay pretty basic from now on.

Boyd.

Chic,
You never cease to impress looking good, Can't wait to see it in livery colors.
Boyd, just think once you retire you can get back to the Tracker
Just wanted to once again thank Noah, Boyd, Chic and especially Charlie for all their support and tutelage during my slowwwww builds, I can't thank you guys enough.
Should have the balancing fixture for the Avenger finished today and then back to the dive brake on the Trojan

I thank all of you as a builder who is yet to start my TBF. My eyes took in the wing rib issue and will be on the look out. Hope to clear off the building board this summer. 1/3 scale Fleet is done and now, where to put it.

I read "Tracker".. is that the continuance of C. Kelloggs "Stoof" unfinished project?
