those subtle warps won't impact anything, Chic
My flaps were a bit wavy... not so bad that it looked terrible in static display on the ground, but still wavy.
But certainly once in the air and trimmed, never a second thought about it.

Noah, thanks for letting me know those slight curves are not going to stop this show. After cutting this puppy twice, enough is enough. Besides, it makes it look more realistic. Larry, Shirley is having a tough week. We just got Mom out of the hospital after several days with her bout with A-Fib. After dropping her off at home, we headed to Alexandria, Va. to our home. Just about home when she got a call telling her that her favorite uncle has bone cancer in his shoulders/arms. Can't make this s%$# up. When it rains, it pours I guess. Working on the Avenger between crisis' Thanks guys. Chic

Hey Guys - Had to make a better cradle to work on and with the Avenger. When right side up, the landing gear in the down position is at least 1-1/2" off the table. The bomb bay doors are operational whether right side up or upside down. Shirley contributed to the construction of the cradle and now said it needs painted which she volunteered to paint it. I have no say as to color. I am crossing my fingers.
This Father's Day stuff really works. Got a present today since tomorrow, I am spending time with mother-in-law on her birthday which has priority over Father's day. Ha ha. Happy Father's Day to all the guys including those who are not necessarily birth fathers but certainly help others raise other peoples kids (teachers, pastors, etc.). Chic

Ok Guys - I have the flight batteries installation figured out. The batteries are placed under the fuel tank platform and in front of the bomb bay structure. The battery cover will be held in by Velcro. Next step is to turn the Avenger over and install the cockpit individual pieces. The side window screen is open at the pilots position. Shirley sat me down and told me I was slowly killing myself to finish this airframe. She told me, she did not believe I could finish, maiden, and fly the Avenger enough to work out the kinks and bugs before the Nats. I walked away and realized - she was right. She said lets look for another scale contest in the coming months. Enough said. I will continue to work on the Avenger, it will fly this year. I can't say anymore. .

Quite impressive. Is that a Xicoy I see in the pix, gonna be a lot of Nordstrom bags coming into the house for that
Don't forget to get the plane level on the Xicoy pads before doing you algebra calculations....
We did get the DA 85 started 10 days ago, took about 20 minutes but it purred like a kitten and NO fuel leaks, WHEW!!!!
Thankfully my friend who was going to fly it noticed a sloppy aileron and we thought better of it, he thought it was a bad servo extension.
Turns out my 2700MAH battery was only at 725 OUCH!!, will order a new one when we get ready to fly it when the temps hit the 80's. should be sometime in September
Can't wait to hear about the balancing and engine start

Xicoy - yes, you started it. I told Shirley a "Little White Lie" - I told her you had one and if the Navy can have one - so should the Air Force. Ha, Ha, the bags are already coming in. Now she is talking about a new car. I don't get it - a balancer vs a new car. Can't figure them out. Ask your friend how do you know if you have a bad extension, that is one skill I would surely like to know. Any reason why it took 20 minutes for a DA to start? You know you will be one of the first to know about weight and balancing. May text you again for the balancing info, can't seem to find the paper I wrote your numbers on. That is how its been around here. Chic

Tried on the cowl/dummy motor and it fits very well. Will remove the cowl when running the engine for the first time in the back yard. Canopy installed and secured. Wooden radio antenna staff installed and made removal. Model is about ready to weigh and balance. Then engine run. Chic

Gibb, thanx for the pix impressive.
As for the 20 minutes, engine had been sitting for 4+ years without starting but once it turned over it pulled great.
The 3 bladed prop works great.
I would do the engine start before balancing in case you need to move anything around if you have trouble starting it... just a thought.
September will now be the maiden when the temps are more conducive to humans being outside.

Thanks Noah, Larry, and Paul for your kind words. The "Lady" is finally moving toward completion. With the heat we are experiencing, I "MAY" get the engine run and balancing complete. Paul - beast is right. Larry even gave her the same name. More to come. Chic

Jim, can't thank you for your kind words. Not much more to be done - Engine Running, Balance, Maided, Practice Flying, Find a Contest. Your Avenger looks great in the air. That is all I am anxious to see --- this FAA (Fleet Air Arm) Royal Navy Avenger left off the tarmac and fly like a bird longing for altitude then dive down for a torpedo run. Smiling and dreaming.
