Default F6F-3 Helcat documentation help

Just starting my Bates Hellcat build and would like to do a -3 but none of my present documentation shows the window
area behind the canopy very well or what is visable inside, does anyone have some photos of this area?

Thx Veltro , what model kit is that from,? My doc. show two radio boxes about where the oil tank is on yours...
bps, I'm using a short kit from Bob Holman, I purchased it from a third party that had bought it but didn"t start the build.
I will be doing a build thread once I get some more photos and work done..
thx. Guys there doesn"t seem to be much out there and I don"t have a real one within driving distance..

Kent,

I ran across the photos on the Internet. The guy was superdetailing the old Hasegawa 1/32 Hellcat kit. He did a thorough photo study of the -3 at Pensacola. Here's a few of his photos that capture the area behind the cockpit:

One of the interesting things about the -3 is the armor plate behind the pilot's head. If you look at the third photo, you can see that it scallops inward. That's because there is a little slit of a window in the bulkhead. The idea is that the pilot can look over either shoulder and see out the window behind him through the slit. You can see the slit in the first photo. The slit has glass over it. Here's another photo that shows the slits:

My mistake the tank behind the armour plate is the water injection tank, the oil tank is mounted infront of the firewall,
the radio boxes appear farther back the fuse.
The last photo seems to have the armoured plate removed from behind the seat, also the head rest is different than the stock 3
one. Wish i lived closer to Pensacola, Thx for the help. I'll keep digging as it seems I have more details on the model 5
instead of the 3 on hand. kent.

Kent,
I stumbled across this site.... http://www.qualityrcproducts.com/prod_aero.html. This might be a good investment if you want to build an accurate Hellcat. I'm looking forward to watching your build...the Hellcat is such a cool plane, and the Bates design is excellent.
Andris.

Hey guys if anyone has some good pics of the sliding canopy rails it would be helpful. I can't find what is at the front of the slides AKA how the cables are hooked up and mechanisms and such at the front where it meets the front canopy. These are some great pics but I need the front area if anyone has some more shots it would be great.
