RE: KMP Bf-110 Nothing like Twins
Evil,
I think KMP serves a good number of people in the RC community and the scale is prefect for most. I started looking for kits with glass fuzes and CMP was the first ones I tried. They were fine for the $, but weren't very scale or strong. KMP fit my budget and scale requirements just fine. If you want more scale then get a Comp ARF or Fiber Classics kit for 4+ times as much $. I think the KMP planes are great with enough scale to fly right out of the box, or with some work can be tweeked to make them super scale. The price seems very resonalble given what else is out there for the same price.
The only negative are the tail wheels
Jeff

Chiming in on the motors here regarding electric setups. The comment was made that two e-flite power 110's are way TOO much for this plane and a few persons compared the power output of two power 60's in a TF B-25. Ok...yes the power 60's will fly this ME-110, BUT, and this is a big BUT.....this plane is NOT a bomber. Its a fighter/night fighter/ground attack plane. Having more power then a B-25 would be absolutely correct. Im not saying power 60's are too wimpy, but power 110's are NOT going to be too much if the owner wants scale fast flyby's.
What Power 110's will do for Gamby and someone else thinking of using similar power motors...is allow them to swing BIGGER more scale multi-blade props. A power 60 can do a 14x7x3......but will not be able to turn a 15.75x13x3 with enough RPMs to make use of the prop. So, the power difference between a power 60 and 110 is what allows this. Even a Power 110 can be run on 6s.
here's an example.....turnigy 6364-230kv motor on 6s spinning a 20x15 prop. That turnigy motor is about the same as a power 160 if running on 10s and an 18x12 prop. But...you up the pitch and diameter and lower the cell count(although at the cost of amp draw)...you get the same basic speed but a bigger scale prop.
Now...for ME.....I am also doing similar to Gamby. Not using power 110's with 1200 watt output, but rather the turnigy 6354-230kv motors spinning 15.75x13x3 props on 10s. Yup...I said 10s. I could do it on 6s too, but....hell...i want speed So....the 6364-230 motor is outputting 2000 watts per motor on 10s. Yup....Ill have the fastest KMP Me-110 out there.
Gamby...for ESC's you can get two turnigy 2-12s sentilion 100 amp controllers for $100 each through hobbycity. I have 3 of them and all work flawlessly. One is in my CMP Me-109 hooked up to a turnigy SK 6364-230 producing 2600 watts on 10s with an 18x12. Yup...more then minimum required for a 17 pound plane.....but man does it look frackin sweet on a low fast flyby.
BTW...just picked up my KMP ME-110 today at LHS

I would like to order one of these but there not listed on kmp web site or do they have a company that handles it in the states? Does anyone know if they still offer it without the hornet paint job.

RE: KMP Bf-110 Nothing like Twins
Yes it is listed on their website and KMP is the distributor in the USA. VQwarbirds also carries them for KMP.
Here is direct link to the webpage the ME-110 is on:
http://www.kmp.ca/product_info.php?c...b76e9e4237cdf3
Its also listed under Classic Aircraft.

I have flown roughly 10 different KMP aircrafts and for me they are perfect, love my DC3,the best twin I have flown..
So I have ordered one of these and I dont think i will be dissapointed..
Reading Evil Merlins post´s are like reading same thing, over and over again how horribly wrong everything is,it really doesent matter the topic, the main thing is bashing KMP..It´s getting boring(understatement)..
For me these are "bang for the buck",I am a not a very good builder, this is my opurtunity to fly the aircrafts I like..
So i´m going to try this one as well with a couple of 91 FS and it´s going to be fun as well!
By the way,i would also be interested in pictures of Mr Merlins Hangar..

Mmm..Lots of aircrafts..But I can´t find a single picture of a finished aircraft that i know i his ,MobyAl..Perhaps the Stuka?
The thing is,I seem to recognize this discussion, call it dejavú or whatever..We have the same lovely RC flyers at our fileds here
in Sweden that knows how everything should be done[sm=cry_smile.gif]..They almost scared me away from this fantastic hobby when I first got interested!but i survived![sm=thumbs_up.gif]
So I am still looking forward to get my 110 and is it anywhere near my DC3 or B-25 to fly it should be a hit,I buy these aircrafts för the fun of flying them and in my eyes they look pretty nice in the air where they belong..

RE: KMP Bf-110 Nothing like Twins
I'd rather take my time and do them right, than do them half-arsed and have them come out "pretty nice". I don't just do this for the flying, I do this for the history as well.
I don't know how everything should be done (is that a common problem with Swedish RCers?), but I do know how Luftwaffe paint jobs were specified by the RLM, what a Fw 190 should look like, and a few other Luftwaffe birds KMP attempts to model.
Someone famous once said "Do it the right way, or don't bother doing it at all."

Hello folks,
Has anyone who received theri 110 yet started building? Any pics? Also, anyone thought of gas engines? I have considered this but if it means hacking up the cowls too much...well not worth it. Anyone have the diameter of the cowls?
Thanks,
Brent

ivancant,
here is the link.. YOU should be able to hide 4 stroke engines in there like the RCV 91-CDs and RCV130-Cds ...
or the SP series... then of course electric too...
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=8434055
this should bring you up to speed...

Thomas
When I ordered my 110, I talked to a fellow named Gus, heck of a nice guy. I told him that I was considering using 91 four strokes in mine. He said that they would be very marginal. He recomended the Aerovate 26cc gassers you sell. Could you shed a little light on these engines, as to how they will fit in the cowls, and what type of muffelers they will need.
Thanks,
Ron

YO Adrian,
Email me direct for your RCV ENGINE NEEDS...
RCV130-CDs should be purrrfect match for this ...
or RCV120-SPs
Gas 20-26cc will need to cut the cowling up a bit to fit carbs etc..
unless you go with the new saito 26cc gas or the smallish evo-series..
(I do have free shipping on the rcv's)

Hay nemesis4u i will drop you an email for some info and prices on the engines. I am still trying to deside, if i still can, order one without the wasp on the front. I myself like to weather these arfs to my taste. One thing for sure the cowlings will be repainted and the tires will more of a balloon type. I always like to line up the info on engines, cockpit, pilots, landing gear etc, before i start to spend my money.

RE: KMP Bf-110 Nothing like Twins
I ordered one without the wasp decal on it, but when the box came, it had the damn thing on it. I called Andrew K right from the hobby shop I was picking it up from and he did his best to apologize for the error. I dont blame him, but I do fault the shipping crew on the docks. Andrew told me only 3 were made without the decal, so there is at least one out there not spoken for now(unless it was wrongly shippedto someone else...which is possible). Anyhow..me and Andrew came to terms over what to do and i wont go into that.
So....now i have the plane with a wasp on it so Im gonna have to find a decent paint job to cover it up while still hopefully keeping the wings paint free. Or...i could simply do it as an eastern front winter white camo version....but that would require painting the wings too.

RE: KMP Bf-110 Nothing like Twins
I have asked before, I'll ask again. Please stay on topic! If you have questions/comments on this particular aircraft (BF-110, remember?), please feel free to post them in this thread. If you have "general" comments regarding CMP vs. KMP or the general state of ARF's in this industry, please seek out those threads that discuss those issues and feel free to post there, not here!
I have removed several posts by various authors. I believe I've notified you all as to why. If not, I apologize but unfortunately you did not give me a simple task. I did not remove all posts, for fear if I did it would start new discussions in these areas that are to be avoided in this thread. Again, please resist the urge!

If you bring the fuse to a local PPG jobber they can thae a picture of the colors with a special camera they have and make the formulas you need on the 110. I have had exellent results doing this on some of my stuff. I use Concept single stage. It can be mixed as flat as you need it, is very durable and sprays good through an airbrush.you should be able to blend out the wasp without to much trouble. Hope this will help

Ive used that stuff before on glow planes and it hasnt come off yet. That being said, any paint I do add would be overcaoted with a fuel proof flat clear coat(or two)

RE: KMP Bf-110 Nothing like Twins
Concept urethane paint from PPG is single stage automotive paint that is very durable and fuel proof it also requires no clearcoat its an activated paint and acts much like epoxy paint but is much easier to spray and clean up

Been using home depot paint for years
if you use gas no need to clear coat
usually buy a quart-just enough for about 50 airplanes
stores for ever
when you do have to touchup after year or more it blends in almost perfectly
clean up with water
Cost about $10.00
automotive paint
when I used that
easy $100. plus reducer
doesnt touch up well
shelf life short
