Default Great Planes Corair 40 kit

I bought this from a guy with a super tigre 45 engine. He was scared to fly it. This plane flies great. I have a 10 x 6 two blade evolution prop on it tacking around 13500 rpm. It lands like a dream. Keep giving it up elevator once you land because if you do not it will nose over. I will post pictures later.

Giving the plane up elevator on landing can cause you some heart ache if you still have enough airspeed to make the plane lift off. You need to be real careful. Good Luck, Dave

David agar if you do not you will always get a nose over because of the way the landing gears are. Even with a hot landing I still give it up elevator, I have about 15 flights on it. The first to landing I gave it no elevator and nosed it every time. I guess I will not be getting any heart aches. Trust me everybody give it up elevator when you land, or you will wither be buy new props or a new cowl because you have either broke or scraped a hole. I will be going out to the field to fly it again and I will do some landings a see if I can land it at a normal landing speed without using the elevator.

cold reboot you should be more than fine with that engine. I had to add about 3.5 ounces to the firewall, a 2.5 ounce prop hub, and move the battery right behind the firewall for it to balance out. So with that saito it should come out good.

I am beating that if you bend your landing gear forward so that a portion of the wheel is forward of the wings leading edge, it won't tip over. I have the same plane and I have never had mine nose over. Good Luck once again, Dave

Yeah someone already suggested that when I went out to the field about a week ago, but I opted to just learn how to land it the way it was built. So far not mater what speed I come in at hot or slow adding a little bit of elevator keeps the noise from skidding.

Anyone who flies this plane you can either put more rake in the the landing gear or keep it the way it is and add a little up elevator on the touchdown. There is always more than one way to skin a cat.

I was going to advise the same thing David just did, heat the landing gear with a torch and bend them forward a little so the wheels are closer to the leading edge. With the Saito 82 and my Rx Batt. under the fuel tank it balanced perfectly with no added weight.

That's cool, I new it would. I hate that I had to add all that dead weight to mine but this is the engine it came with when I bought it,and i did not want to put anymore money in it. Post some pictures when you get done.
