ProScale,
I'm with you all the way on the way panel lines appear. Both my Ziroli Corsair and P-51 have very small panel lines. At one time I managed to get a picture of the Corsair and the Full size positioned so they both appeared the same size. The only panels that were visible were the often removed ones fastened with Dzus fasteners. On these large planes I just show these removable panels and the Dzus fasteners with the slots positioned the correct direction. On the P-51 I even added a couple "patch" holes with a simulated patch where a Duzs might have ripped out. I did this just for fun. It was too much work to do any more haha.

I'm working on building a P-51B from the P-51D plans. Looks like I will go with a Glass fuse (or Carbon) should I add panel lines in the plug for the mold?? Or just add them to the finish.

Go to a Hobby store, or Walmart, and buy a 1/48th scale plastic model......Most of these are pretty darn close scale, and you can see the patterns for the layout.........One of the comments is correct, military fighters were butt jointed and flush riveted. Great for reducing boundry layer drag....

I'm afraid your mailing to the wrong person, I'm bashing a Cessna 182.

Most wings were puttied depending on time frame. After WWII, the putty was removed. I use models 1/32 scale for ideas.

I guess, that every P-51 builder and pilot already seen attached picture. In the picture you can see different between puttied wings and natural metal flap, fuselage...
