HI George,
Just got your plan set and looks great. Thanks for the very fast service. Great, instruction manual with a wood list will save some time figuring out what to buy. Very nice 3 view. Looks like an easy build along with you pictures on this form should be a quick build. I have a Q 100 XL looking for a plane. Hope to start this summer cutting parts. Thanks again for the effort.

Well the last time I flew my P-51B Nosen not Mustang I landed on wet grass , and I gues the trunion holding the strut was not tight enough so the strut twisted and turned the wheel, so it bent the strut back,,, I have been wating for Robart to send me a replacement,, I though some thing like that would be in stock, any one else have the same problem of getting parts not quick from Robart?... anyway in the mean time I have been doing some tweeks in the cockpit and polishing it,,, looks like I well be building a wing soon for the P-51 fuselage I have hanging in the racks.

Ya,Ya,Ya I well get to it after I get mine back on it's wheels soon I hope,,,, what is with Robart now??? they don't answer the phones live and you get a endless taped response to leave a message which I did and now I am waiting for a response, and if you are lucky to talk to someone they never seem to have the parts, sure don't look good for getting replacement Robart parts.

Here is the start of another Nosen (not) P-51 wing,,, as you can see the wing well be fitted with Serra retracts... I am adding the outlineson the P-51 prints which I sell... This well give the builder the option of using the Robart 154 or the now popular Serra retracts for the P-51. My prints well show rail details for both Serra and Robart retracts.

Here is the original Nosen P-51 Not build thread I brought back up for you guys looking for it.

I am working on something other than a P-51 for now,,, I have a thread going for a Meister P-47 102" span, don't know why it is called a 102" span when it measures 104" on the print... Project #2 Vintage Fred Reese Travel air Mystery Ship enlarged from 70" to 122" span, planed on useing a Moki radial, now I don't know they require so much proping to get it started I don't think my arm can hold up.

I have noticed the 6" spinner looks to small and makes the front of the plane taper down to much and takes on the look of the Top Flight ARF P-51. Could it be modifed to use a 7" like the Don Smith P-51?? I just bought one of these kits  off e-bay last week and will be buying the new prints from George. I will be using the Sierra Gear and would like to put the new DA100 inline in it. George help me out here do you have a templete set to mod out the nose to use a 7" spinner?

Lazy Eeight, I have bought a few Nosen kit on eebbay I use to get them for $200-$300 now I see they are pushing for $400+,, Any way It is not that big of a project to modify for a different size spinner, The P-51 shows a 6" spinner because that is the closest standard size spinner that is easily available (Dave Brown or TruTurn).. On my planes just behind the spinner on the top of the cowl I glue on additional 1/8" thick balsa so I have plenty of wood to shape the front just right to match the spinner ( I show the picture up front on this post of me doing just that)...Ideal set up would be about a 6.5" spinner... The 7" spinner could be just slightly large but if you want to use it you would cut the first former about 6.75" round, that allows for the balsa sheeting for a 7" diameter spinner, the next former would be made about 3/8"-1/2" wider,, a little trial and error here to get it just right to what you want,, this well blend in the larger spinner to the fuselage and the remainder of the fuselage width would remain same as called for on the plan,..

I found a 6.25" Dia P-51spinner at Aero Accessories. Its profile looks pretty good. They use it on the Comp Arf Mustang.Your right the 7" would be too big Buy the way yours look real nice! I have gotten lots of info off this thread. Thanks to all you guys that have been posting your planes they all look wonderful. It nice to see building is alive and well in this hobby!

L8,, that 6.25" spinner should work out good, I well have to keep Composite p-51 in mind and check out the web site to see what they have available, some of the places seem not to sell lot of the parts individualy.

Hi Bert, I am Impressed the P-51 looks like the real thing in the air, I can tell just by the photos it is a great flying airplane, The weather in my area should be nice to fly in a couple weeks, George.

Bert on the first picture it looks like you have a few degrees of flap down, is that on a takeoff, go around or landing photo?, George.

Actually, it is on a go around. Photo was snapped right as I was bringing them back up. I always takeoff with no flaps, and I land with 30 degrees down. Here's another photo as it sits on the ground.

Hi guys, I just finish today reading the whole thread. I like the work that is done, looks real good. I went to Home Depot looking for that Silver Paint thinking that I may be lucky to find some....NOPE.
But every bad news is a good news. Marta Steward Living in the paint section hase a grup of paint called Precious Metals. It has a Silver color that look sililar to that. I went online to try to find it and post the link.
They have quite of bit of selection there the part number is MSL378 (could not find it on the net.) Is a Quart and is around $19 and some change.
George or any of you that had the Beher Silver take a look at this one and let me/us know what you think.

Thank You
Adrian

Adrian, I looked at the info on the two cd's you sent me, looks like it may be usable for someone restoring a P-51, as for building this model the detailed big 3D drawings I sell along with some photos you can google would be far more usable for getting a real nice looking airplane, George.

On some things you still can use it. Look in Folder R, T (is moust P51d) Z , Y there are more of assemblys and some data is usefull.

Did any one check Home Depot on the paint?

Adrian I just looked at the cd, the flight manual that I did not see when I opened thecd firsttime, I glossed over it and it is very interestingand worth while to read when I have more time. As for the paint the last time I heard any one talk about it, therecomendation was that Benjamin Moores has a metalicpaint which well replace the Behr Luminiso. I havenottried it, maybe someone reading this post may have some input on it to help... George.

( My photo, P-47 about 10 posts ahead of this is Behr Luminso paint, the Benjamin Moore metalic is supposed to be a replacement for it).

Guys great thread u guyz have going on here, it's the pics from Bart and rcwarbirdbuilder that encouraged me to open up the belly under the tail section to fix the stabilizer that split opened at the center joint. I don't have the plans nor the instruction manual but would love to get hold of a set, even a used one will be fine as long as the sheets are intact not cut as some builders do. Bart ur "Big beautiful Doll" looks stunningly beautiful, great job done on it.
I also noticed in one of rcwarbirdbuilder's pictures, you also have Nosen P-51B!, now i have a "B" but i was told mine was modified from "D" into "B" variant at some point in model's long previous life!, did Nosen actually did made kit of a "B" model also or urs is was too modified into P-51B.
