Terry,
Just acquired a Westcraft B-17. I want to recheck the CG. What is the CG range given in the directions?

Thanks,
Keith

Keith.......
This pic is all the CG info I have. It shows it to be about 5 1/2" behind the L/E at the "joint" between out board and inboard panels, not at the tip

@Thunderlips5491 or anyone else with the info.

Believe it or not I've got one of the all fiberglass monsters, wings and fuse, in my attic.
Could you upload the airfoil profile of the vertical and horizontal stab, root and tip. And any other building info, I know this is an awful lot to ask it's a lot of work to get stuff uploaded.
Or would it be easier for me to PM you my address and send you some postage and copying cost?

I got it second had years ago and have poked around on it off and on, more off than on.LOL

Thanks Terry,
Wing is one piece so the joint line for the outer and inner panels is not visible. What is the measurement from the outer nacelle cut out to the joint line? Perhaps I can use that to get the CG plotted out. Also, is the 5 1/2 inch measurement including the leading edge or measured on the foam? Sorry for all the questions...I just want to confirm the CG before flying the model.

I just bought the American Eagle kit so your thread will provide a lot of good building tips for me. I noticed the inner wing cores have the inside nacelle cut out only. Would you mind giving me the dimensions of the outer nacelle cut out? Not sure why it wasn't done but I can do it myself easy enough....just need the dimensions. I will assume the Westcraft and American Eagle model are about the same.

Cheers,
Keith

I have a similar B-17, and was wondering what brand of tailwheel retract you have. I have looked for the Yellow one mentioned earlier, but the only thing I can find on it is the B&D Enterprises mechanical tailwheel. Any assistance is helpful.

Just thoughtI would add my B-17. 132" wing span powered by four 40 twostrokes, weight is 28lb, and is one of the nices planes to fly I have. We are are now on our second set of engines as the first set became un-reliable after wearing them up. I have added the panel lines by a proccess of masking them up and using wire wool. if any one is interested i will tell them how it is done. The rivetsI applied with a soildering Iron and intotal their are over 49,000.. This took about a week to do and is very boring.
My model is from a RCM&E plan, is a balsa and ply ,fuse with foam wings covered with glass cloth and sprayed.

Glad people are still interested in this thread. Someday, I will get back to model, but as of right now I just can't seem to get motivated with it. I have been working on a smaller, 60" electric B-17 from WOW planes, just to get the feel for 4 motors, and the associated wiring and set-up.

How do you like that little B-17? I have always wanted an RC B-17 and have been considering going electric with one like yours.

It's a pretty kool little model. It's all foam and that means that shapes can be changed as needed to get better scale. Not much in the way of instructions, so I don't recomend it if you have not done a lot of building. A lot is left to the builder to figure out.
here's a few pics of what I have done so far:

Hi Terry,

I have acquired a Westcraft B17 this past week. Any and all information on this plane you or anyone could share is much appreciated. Surface throws, manual, prints, etc. I have also sent you a private message.

Thanks,
John

I love seeing all these B17, I got one I'm building this winter, I was told it's 1 of 4 all Composite made from American Eagle B17.

I just finished installing the electric motors, got some tires from Robert on the way.

I think I'm almost ready to check the CG, as I figured the CG will tell me how much lipos I'll get to carry.

I need a little more $ for a speaker set up, but I'm not sure who's kit to go with.

Also need a much better nose peace what I got looks like crap
