JMOHN,

How do the Control rods work. All I see are wires and wonder if they are robust enough to keep from flexing? How do they extend to reach the servo Bay?

Thank you,

Oriole
Hi JMOHN,

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I hope to tear into it this weekend. I have to get my Stuka cockpit install finished first. It's almost done, then the Hurricane is on the table. It looks pretty straight forward with a few minor changes to the control rods to try and hide them. Otherwise it's very nice and should be an easy build.

Nice to see they have a larger Hurricane. I am flying the smaller version, and it is a good flier. The larger one would also be a good flier, and lots of potential for scaling up.

Test flew mine yesterday powered by a Saito FG36, stunning plane.

kinverflyer, nice photos!

Are you using the gen V retracts and KMP wheels? Do you like them?

Did you have a dead stick landing? How do you like that engine?

kinverflyer,

Excellent! I have the same motor to put in mine. Any issues getting the motor in? How was the CG? I am also installing a cockpit too. The plane flies well ...that's good to hear. How do the flaps work for landings?

Who makes a cockpit for this plane?

The retracts work ok in grass?
Nose overs in grass?

The engine was cut as she touched down , trim a little to low.
Here's a couple of videos.

The first is previously unseen footage of what was then the 'new MKII Hawker Hurricane'

Here are a couple photos of the engine in the cowling. I have a Saito FS-36 in the plane. It's about 3/4 inch too long for the cowl, so I decided to just fill the extra gap and go with it. It looks pretty nice and should have good power according to kinverflyer.

I haven't had too much free time to work on the plane, but will try and post some this weekend of the progress. Going to start on the retracts and wings this weekend.

Alan,

I will try and get you one tonight. I really can't move the engine back any more as the carb is up against the fire wall. It will be fine as the cowl fits on nicely and there's only about 1/2" or so of gap. I could have gone electric on this, but I had this nice engine for it

what i am wondering is is there a protrusion on that the engine sits on, my idea, when i get mine, is to hack off some of this, and insert a fresh bulkhead, then fit something that wont stick out the bottom, although we designed it, i have lost the three view cad drawings, and the guys are 90 miles from me, so i cannot have a peek at kinverflyers, thanks for your assistance,

Alan,

No it's a flat firewall and the engine is pretty much as far back on the mount as I could get it. I will take a look and see if there's a way to do what you said this weekend and post some photos Monday.

Yeah, I don't think it will be a problem either way. The cowl has plenty to room to mount to the fuze and I will just have to add some filler in the gap and touch up paint it. From the looks of the video it should be a screamer!

Excellent video production and editing... thats some fine work there my friend!!! if it was not for the cylinder head protruding in certain frames it would otherwise be 100% convicing to even the most seasoned pro. You had me fooled there for a while

Iam seriously considering the Saito 200 Ti for this bird[8D]

Here's a mod I did for the tail wheeel. I wanted it to look more scale so I used a Dubro tail wheel with the eixiting mount & location. It's on a pull-pull with the tail. Works great!

thanks for the engine shot, i think it would be possible to get the engine back another 20mm or so, small hole in the bulkhead, remove the middle from the top of the mount, save you having to move the cowl, but, for me, looking at the cowl line, removing 25-40 mm and getting the head of my engine in the deepest part of the cowl looks do-able, just have to replace the bulkhead,

I think I would go electric next time with this plane. I could easily fit the motor and everything in the cowling. Not sure if you can get it much farther back. I guss you could stick the carb through the firewall and gain some. I will see if it's possible to move it all back into the fuze. There is definately room to move the motor back as the muffler won't hit the firewall.
