Default CMP T-34 Mentor

Last night I took the plunge and ordered the new CMP T-34 Mentor from AK- Models. Since this is a new model that just came out, I decided to do a little research prior to ordering it. Is is just slightly larger than the H9 40 size T-34, has a pretty good (but not totally accurate)scheme and is a heck of a lot cheaper. I'll see how the installed retracts hold up, but I can always order some stronger ones. I had pretty good luck with my CMP .50 Zero, so I hope that this one is even better. Still figuring out which engine to put in it, maybe a OS 704S or my Magnum .80 4S. I might even try to slide in a .60 to .65 2S.

I know that others have ordered this plane, especially for the price - are there any building reports out there? If not, I'll document the build once it somes in (most likley next week).

John- I guess I'm the only one on the Warbirds Forum that's building one. Someone else is building one on the ARF Forum(where I started the build thread). Nice to be the guinea pig. I'll let you know how it does when I get my new retracts installed (hopefully the 1st week of March they will be in). I'll post it on the ARF forum.

what will you be powering it with? I was trying to think about how if the engine was mounted sideways, the exhaust goes into the retract..

John , currently I have a Saito .65 on the front. The firewall has a built in recess for a muffler. The instructions show both 2 and 4 stokes mounted sideways. If you look at my pictures in the ARF forum, you will see it. It should do really well for a 2 stroke, but I had to add a deflector for the 4S muffler (to stop melting the plastic in the recess).
