Iron Bay not Communicating
Has anyone else had this problem with Iron Bay? I have sent numerous e-mail and every time I call the number on their website, I get a FAX machine. They are not getting back to me after about a month now. I need a Byron P-51D canopy assembly for my scratch built Mustang.

I talked to a pilot at Owatonna, last week's flyin, and he called them and got his new T-28 canopy in 3 days (which was last Fall: at least we know that they are still in business!).
I'm guessing that if they don't have it, they probably don't answer emails.
I believe this is a 'side' business, so, if they are busy, they may not, presently, have time to do the RC stuff.
Can't help you with the phone number: you may try googling them and see if a different number shows up.

Not unusual, and not new.
It took many months for them to send me a replacement canopy for my byron F-16.
They bought nearly all the old byron molds but the modelling thing is definately a "side" thing, so it when then can, if they can be bothered, and at their pace. has been for years...
All the best getting the parts you need, but if it's not a byron model, try absolutely any other option first.
Thanks

Here is an old thread with communication from Iron Bay to a modeler concerning the business. As far as I can tell, the company does not advertise products for sale. I am really surprised that Iron Bay makes any parts available at all. The business doesn't put food on the table.

I'm a big fan of the glass/foam kits. I find them very enjoyable, they build fast, and no two are the same once complete.
Iron Bay dropped all the kits that had injected foam parts righaway, due to equipment/production issues (boiler). They still make some of the kits that use cut foam cores, but I don't think there is much demand anymore. The word has been out about slow turn times, poor communication, and quality that isn't what it used to be. The kits they do sell, cost as much, if not more than a comparably sized ARF
Like it or not, China ARFs have such a grip on the market these days, how many people are going to spend $800 for a kit, when they can spend the same $ for an ARF. Hangar 9, Topflite, majority of all the Jet ARFs are all from China
Latest victims, Yellow Aircraft just discontinued the P-38, and F-4. The P-38 is an awesome kit, that builds into a great plane. There is just no demand for Charles to have X number of kits produced, and shipped stateside, so they can sit in his warehouse waiting for someone to call, and yes they are made in China. It kills me, but that's the reality of the world we live in.
All that said, if a NIB Byron Corsair kit comes along for the right price, I'll be all over it!

That is a the sad reality, all amount demand and supply and if the product price/availability time is poor then it will not sell.
As the standard of living and wages increase in China to a comparable Western rate then we will have a level playing field. We won't see the cheap ARFs though and people might have to once again learn how to build instead of "assembling"
