RE: Ziroli Bearcat engine
The Tigerkitty will scoot nicely with 2 g-80's! Glennis is pretty slow-but its cool because I was told they had to make the wheels prior to placing an order. I would rather wait and have a great job done than be in a hurry and recieve an inferior product.
I placed an order for a fantastic scale set of struts for an F-4 Phantom. Thats going to be a 2 month wait!!

I opted for the more affordable, lotsa carving and building JHH F-4 Seriously though, I have a Wren 54 that I wasnt using and got the jet complete with os 65vrdf and pipe and Turbax fan n.i.b. for $350! The df setup I have listed on Ebay. So when that sells, I may wind up essentially paying next to nothing for the jet[8D]
Which is great because the custom gear with wheels and brakes is upwards of $800[:@]

RE: Ziroli Bearcat engine
awesome I hope that all comes together for you, I have the original plans for the gear for the Bearcat, They were drawn by my friend Jim Macdonald that did the first scale Ziroli Bearcat and was in Scale Model Builder by Norm Goyer about 15 years ago. He still has the bird and it first flew with a OS-320,,,,,,, Lots of nose weight Now he is going with a GT-80 For it

RE: Ziroli Bearcat engine
So last friday the tailwheel retract arrived from Sierra Precision. Still waiting on the main wheels and tailwheel from Glennis. Thats pretty much all Im waiting for. Ive had the itch to start the build-I always wait until I get everything I need before I start, but I have what I need to get underway.
I started building Friday night and by Sunday night I completed the fuselage, fin and rudder. I also installed the tailwheel retract and actuator and checked the function. Works perfectly (it should for 150 bucks[:@]) The fuselage is nice and straight and CAVERNOUS. I love all the room in these g.s. kits. The Ziroli Bearcat is super easy to build-and goes very quickly. The G80 Zenoah twin fits perfectly in the cowl. Thats a perfect engine for this bird-now I know why so many guys use that powerplant. Anyhow, thats my update.......

i seen Evo's Bearcat at Bomber Field with BME 102! It will slow down to 28mph with full flaps . You can walk out there and grab it before touch down , don't be scared of the power and weight !!!! and be sure to give it a PPG bath so people can ask you a million questions LOL!!!!! Save the prints for me when you are done , Bates cat is a little to small.

RE: Ziroli Bearcat engine
My wheels showed up from Glennis YAAAAAAY! And it was worth the long wait, they look awesome. Started building the wing but ran into a snag as the Robinaire gear rails are different than the Robart gear the plans reflect. So I have some re-engineering to do. Im thinking about it. In the meantime, here are some pics-

Hi Kev!
Are these retracts those from Robinaire? When did you receive them? What do you think about them?
I am waiting for nearly 3 years now and haven´t heard from Lee since he had his accident some weeks ago. The last info was that he had improved something and they were nearly ready.
Best regards,
Lars

RE: Ziroli Bearcat engine
Hello Lars, yes they are the Robinaire retracts. I bought them from someone who waited a mellenium for them! I like them and I paid very little money for them. They are a pretty good scale example as they articulate like the full scale. The Sierra set that is available appear to be better in scale appearance and are more robust but at over $800 US the Robinaire are a better deal.
My set looks pretty awesome with the wheels and tires from Glennis installed. I waited 3 months for my wheels, and it seems that when it comes to scale goodies for this hobby a long wait is to be expected. A 3 year wait as far as Robinaire is outrageous. I would just give Sierra a call. It only took 2 weeks for my tail retract to be made by Sierra-

RE: Ziroli Bearcat engine
My problem is, that I had to pay the robinaire retracts in advance... I hope Lee gets well soon.
I think I'll drop him a line tonight and hope he reads his mail.
Thank you for your quick answer!

RE: Ziroli Bearcat engine
Paying in advance is typical. It keeps the buyer binded so to speak. I hope Lee gets better soon as well. In his defense, I have to say that his engineering skills are quite good. There is a ton of work involved in making the gear and is very time consuming. But the end result is pretty awesome-
