I am guessing that you have seen this version of his P47. Havent seen one of the razorback. This is my IMP , one of my early builds, please excuse the non scale gear doors[:@]

I have a question guys. i really want to do Francis S.Gabreski's razorback with d day stripes(red nose and tail, common OD paint). Problem is I don't know if his plane ever had d day stripes....
Blasphemy? What do you guys think?

Ram-bro,
I have to say that I felt a little silly. After posting that question, I got out all of my P47 books that I had stashed away, and the first one I had on the stack has Gabby flying right off the front cover in that Jug lol
By the way, I'm jealous of all your beautiful planes there in you pics....most of those are all yours are they not?

I had one of these on my hangar nine Spitfire 65 inch wing. I had it attached to a 26 cc gasser. Performed very well and the prop blades looked really close to the Spitfire profile. I got mine from the distributor in Canada. It didn't take very long for me to get the parts may be a week. And I would just order extra sets of prop blades just in case.

I'm considering running a 4 blade Varioprop. Does anyone have any input on them? Anyone know of a US dealer?
Here is a video of the product, and it looks very nice!

Still no response from VarioProp....I think my motor may just be a little too large...dunno.
I got the pull pull cables ran for the tail wheel steering. I'll try to get the servo mounted today.
I will run the rudder on its own separate servo, mounted in the tail.

I received a reply from VarioProp, so I have pit in an order for a four blade prop hub, blades and scale spinner nut for a 20" setup
Can't wait to see it, and test it out.

Varioprop:

Aerosound:

Aerosound doesn't list the new 4-40 amp on their site yet, but still can be ordered. It costs the same as the high voltage amp.

Ok, well I've recieved my sound system and the VarioProp. I've got to make time to go visit the car stereo guys and see what they can do with it.
Here is some shots of the VarioProp.Quite impressive and well made I think. 20" in diameter.
now to get back out to the shop!

Finally found the time to get aliitle something done on the Jug in between other projects.
-made up the elevators, and flaps.
-painted upper sufaces of the flaps, elevators and horizontal.
-recieved some 500 pounders that will work just fine.
-installed rudder servo just behind cockpit area.
-masked and painted neutral grey on fuse as well as above parts
-last pic is the elevator joiner I had made up.

I can next paint the chin divider, rudder and the Nose red(front half of cowl is red). This will allow me to install the divider and dummy radial in the cowl, then the motor can be mounted.
I can also now install the horizontal and elevator.

I bought one couple years back.. haven't really started on it yet and may sell it. If I build it I'll put a 50 in it, I think an 85 would be too big. Probably the biggest could get by with would be in the 60 range.

Calil, thanks for the kind words on my Thunderbolt. I can tell you that my prototype for this kit used a G-62, and it flew like a rocket. Actually too fast. But I would suggest any motor in the 50-60 range would be fine.
Radical Departure...I see you bumped this old thread back in August of 2014...not sure why I did not get notice of your post back then, I would have certainly answered if I had. Sorry about that. I did notice back then you mentioned you were looking for a P-47, and now today you say you purchased one of mine a couple years back..may I ask why you never finished your bird?
Jeff
