IMO, I don't like the all aluminum thing. I like the Spitty's done up in Military colors. The sad thing is is that thing may never fly [&o]If it was done in military camo, I might like it, but, the aluminum IMO is overkill. Although, the fact that it is 1/3 scale makes it cool.

Just my 2 cents,

Well it's still a work in progress so the builder might not have got to the finishing touches which could include the paint finish.

As a built model however, the clean lines of the metalwork show great craftsmanship. How many imperfections have we all hidden with paint on our models??

It hides a lot of sins [&:]

From my reading of the article, I don't think the builder had any intention of making a flying R/C model, just a static scale model.

Ha, some of you guys are discussing this as if it was some RC'er knocking it up from some old Brain Taylor plans he had laying around.
This hasn't anything to do with a model as we see them. This is a real genuine Spitfire, built from real Vickers Supermarine engineering drawings, using real materials, held together in a real way.
In other words it's a real Spitfire.... not a model if you get may drift.
These's guys, and there a many out there reproducing exact engineering reproductions have nothing to do with what we're doing. They're engineering, we're modelling.
There are by the way, a couple of these Reduced Engineered Spitfires around. Reason being that ALL the original Vickers/Supermarine factory drawings are available to the general public.
Unlike the original Hawkers, that are kept under lock and key by a group of individuals that won't even allow researchers, artist like me or indeed engineers (unless you work for the same organisation) a look in.

David, I can see where you are coming from, but it's not a real Spitfire. It's 1/3 full size so it's a model, a facsimile, or if you like a reproduction, of the real thing. The fact that it has been reproduced as accurately as it has deserves a mark of respect for the builders who may be engineers, they have still ended up with model of a Spitfire at the end of the day.

It's probably the best scale reproduction I have ever seen and I have nothing but adoration for the people who constructed it.
