kinverflyer,
Are the dive flaps already installed and just how do they function with one going up and the other going down ? Looking at the pic of the firewall with the cross hairs it doesn't appear to have any right thrust built in or Is it just the angle of the pic ? Can you tell me what the length of the fuse is ???

Just got my SBD today and it is a beaut! The pictures do not do justice. The detail is very clean as is the paint job, will definately need the ol weathering job. She is a bit on the heavy side but a YS-140 should do the work nicely. Flaps/dive brakes are really cool. Canopy is actually molded with step downs so you can cut and mount in the open position as she was often flown. Will need some extensive cockpit detail, especially in the gunners' nest. Very solid built plane. Waiting on the retracts.

a full scaling make over can be found over on the r/cflyers forum, by warbird man, regarding the weight, and fitting the 140, i have had 2 of the complete a pac versions, not far off ours for size, old school build (belts and braces) retracts, brakes, and heavy as hell, adequatly powered by a laser 90, i will ask Wayne if he can put the build pictures on here, if there is anyone interested, all his detailis scracth built,

The problem is that the manual shows them tied together so that the dive brakes are activated every time the flaps are lowered. They should be independant so that lowering flaps for landing is not accompanied by dive brakes which will (if they do their job) spoil everything.
For those looking to add detail there is an outstanding plastic kit that includes every detail you migh want to add. It is of the same plane modeled in the KMP/YT kit, #45.

That website is back up and Warbirdman does some incredible detail on this bird. Dry fit mine together and this bird has a true presence. Will do nice with the pending detail work. The 1/6 Jet Jockey is there for size reference, 12" figure

Well have tried to dial in the flaps and it's impossible...just about ready to give up on this bird....am so disgusted with it....fuse is ready, except for the canopy and pilots..has a G-26 installed in the nose....servos are installed.....retracts are installed...anybody who has one, beware of the flaps.....it is pretty tricky to set up..have separate servos for flaps and dive brakes...anyway,back to the room and try again...gotta be a way do it....................................

RE: SDB Dauntless from YT International (KMP)
hey, I did it...quite by accident.....you'll need a couple of 'Y' harness.......Am using a JR 9303 9 ch transmitter and a 10 ch rec'r...am using ch 5 for the redundant system I am using on the model.......so here it goes:
Plug the first 'Y' harness into AUX 1 on your rec'r...plug one plug into the open 1/2 of the 'Y' harness..I used this for the left flap...plug the 2nd'Y' harness into the other half of the first 'Y' harness....use the one open end in the 2nd 'Y' harness to the right flap...any adjustment to the flaps will have to be in the linkage..both flaps will operate together..For the center flap, plug into AUX 4 on the rec'r....Now you can trim the center flap as needed to have all 3 flaps come down even....The center flap was my big problem....all flaps work great now..You'll need a high troque servo for the center flap.....am using a HD 9150 servo....you can try a Hitec 985 servo if you want too....Here is the rest of the set up:
AUX 2 ....Bomb drop...
AUX 3...Dive brakes....am using the slide switch on the side of the transmitter........
I did try to use the JR Matchbox, but it was to no avail............
I hope this helps........................
PS: didn't use their hook-up for the center flap...used a Dubro adjustable control horn, with ball joints on both ends..did cut off the excess fron the bolt after you get it set up...Just hope i don't have to land with wheels up......there will be some damage if this happens
Good luck

RE: SDB Dauntless from YT International (KMP)
Correction from last posting in regards to flaps ..............Switched to a Hitec -985mg servo for center flap....everything is A-OK...don't need the high torque HP-2150mg servo

I am a bit confused (nothing unusual) by your description. I don't quite understand the use of the second "Y" harness.
I understand that Aux 1 and Aux 4 are mixed together. But what is the purpose of the second "Y"? There seems to be an end left dangling.
Please tell me what I missed.
I have attached a diagram of what I "think" I read.
One other question regarding the "redundant system". What is it and since channel 5 is the retract channel how is it affected?

Sorry, but the second 'Y' was going to used if I used a JR Matchbox...go ahead remove the 'Y', and use a 6" extension..should work...reduntant system is usinga second battery thru the rec'r...sorta like a Back-up for power...............Use it in most of my planes...mine is a 6.0v system...hope this answers your questions......

RE: SDB Dauntless from YT International (KMP)
am building the dauntless, but want to know how to setup a second battery for the receiver. Alway wanted to do that on a really nice expensive ship.
Also, want to go with a 1.20 OS AX. will it get off the ground with that?? Not looking for blistering speed.
