RE: Hangar 9 150 Size P-51 / CG w/ 180 ??
"It's Here".... and time to start building, "But" before I get to far..The skin's coming off this one and my .60 size. The 1.50 & .60 will get a new set of Spring Airs, a long awaited change for the .60. And for the new skin's, both will be covered in Ultracote- Chrome & Black, w/black-white checks on the rudder. Another long awaited change for the .60, she has so many flights the coating is coming off in the air. The 1.50 will have a set of HS-5475HB on all surface's other than a HS-5625MG for the rudder, A 180 for power and a TF cockpit kit with Pilot.
Can't wait to get them both side by side on the tarmac ready to roll-out on the runway.

Seems Robart is out of the 551RS retracts for the 1.50 H9 Mustang. Can you give me the contact info for the person you bought yours off for $99? Need them asap.

I am running a Saito 180 in mine. The 16x8 prop looks tiny. How big can I go and what brand would your recommend? Can't find a Master Airscrew that big (maybe I am looking in the wrong place)?

Dave - I see the retracts on this website. Thank you.
Question - are they tight? One thing I can't stand is slop when gear is down and the plane wiggles around? Can you adjust these (with a set screw or something)?
Overall good quality?

Great, thanks that's reasurring. Bet it's loud with that bennet muffler? WOW 130mph, that's fast!!
I'm in the process of buying a Moki 2.10 in the classified section and was eyeing up a few different planes. The H-9 P-51 and the GP Christen Eagle.
I wonder if this motor would pull around the new GP 84" P-51 ARF????
Thanks again.

RE: Hangar 9 150 Size P-51
I just got done balancing my H9 1.50 p51. 6 3/8" next to fuse. I went with a O.S. 1.60 inverted with a J-tec muffler. Spring air retracts. Two micro servos retacts + throttle, single elevator servo, apc 18x8, Dave Brown 5" spinner. total R.T.F. # 14.8 no added weight needed to balance. What kind of weight are some of the others combos at?

RE: Hangar 9 150 Size P-51
I just got a set of the Frank Tiano retracts. The entire mechanism is metal. They do not wobble and they are soooo smooth that I think a standard retract servo (but it would have to be a low profile) would easily pull them open and closed. I am very impressed with these. I haven't tried to mount them as yet but I am very impressed with the retracts and the struts are heavier than than the 5mm supplied struts. I have two other projects on my bench to finish up before I get to this but I will let you know how it goes.

RE: Hangar 9 150 Size P-51
BK9 i don't have a digital camera but the muffler looks like the Taildragger Dave photo with the Moki 210. Its a twin to that muffler other then my alum. out tubes are only 2" long. They do supply the muffler with two rubber tubes {cut to fit} depending on how far you want it to exit out. The spring airs are a easy fit. The only problem i have is mounting the gear doors to the ole struts? There is also some clearence problems with the knee action on the ole and the tire at full compression. There is some cuting of the cowl on the side but can't be helped. {maybe TaildraggerDave can post a pic. with his cowl on.}

Thanks. What is the engine? Saito 180? Can't really see. I already have a Saito 180 mounted inverted. If this is a 180, I want one of these mufflers. How do they sound?

BK9 you can use your stock muffler with the 180 saito. TaildraggerDave has a Moki 210 2c for power. Dave what is your R.T.F. weight and did you need any extra lead to balance. What c.g. are you at?

I am in the process of mounting the Frank Tiano all metal retracts. I had to do some very minor dremeling as they are a hair wider than the supplied products. Also note that the hole pattern is different too which means that if you already mounted the other ones that you will need to fill your old holes with wood dowel. I found that wooden shish-ka-bob sticks with thin CA do very well. The struts hopefull are of a better spring steel and note that they are 3/16 diameter while the supplied struts are of 5MM which is slightly larger diameter. This means that the axle set up from the supplied struts is a little sloppy if you intend to re-use them.
