i changed the tail wheel too...it was just way to wobbly for my taste.
used a Dubro semi scale tail wheel.
it has the right sort of look to it.
i didnt use it in the scale location however because that hook up is just to much of a PITA.
besides....on a fast fly by....who the hell see's the tailwheel.....lol
soon i will move it farther foward tho.
Maidened mine Ssaturday morning..and was thrilled with how solid it was in the air.
im a bit heavy in the nose, very very easy to tip it over. will move the 5 cell RX battery back into the fuse and out from under the cowl.
the retracts are just works of art.....the dont work all sudden like....not a scale speed, but not a slam bam either.
and doesnt seem to land any hotter than the OLD mustang i had. also considering a mini-servo and the radiator cooling door

Ok a problem i have when i turn on my radio & plane my retracts go up & then down. Also the flaps go down & up, then reset. Iam using a DX-7 radio. What is causing this problem. Any ideas....Is there a setting in the radio thats causing this condition.

After setting up the radio, you need to re-bind in with the sticks in the failsafe position, and the gear switch down. Once you do that it will behave.

Full down elevator sure indicates a tail heavy airplane but with your CG at 4 1/2 inches back it should be nose heavy - moving the CG back will add tail weight so you may have another issue.

Does anyone have install pics of a SA125 yet, I’m wondering how much cowl would need to be cut and where to put the exhaust.
the cut out on the cowling should be the same as the FG20 shown in the manual, same motor just the gas version. As far as using the Saito 1.25 without a muffler, I do it on my 1.00 and 1.25. I just pinch the end of the header pipe closed slightly to create a little back pressure then drill and tap a nipple into it. I used JB weld to be sure it would hold. Gained about 600-800 rpm's that way. The stock mufflers are junk IMHO. You can also use a flex type muffler off one of the multi cylinder motors, They already have a nipple in them and have heard they work great. Don't remember which one though.

I ordered both of those I will use go slo for flaps and the sequancer for retracts.

Like every one else I had issues getting this plane together. I still work on it. I broke a rod too,they are dardend,The spinder aluminum part is big time out of balance I spend couple hours to balce it.I will have to add more glue to all points that I can get. and also to reinforce the landing part at the wings.
I have a sugestion for all of us here that deals with this beautiful plane.
I am sure that we will find diffrent things to do this and that. I am working to make the landing gear to be curved like on real scale and use some of the original parts,to put doors at the landing gears. and who knows.
Lets Open a thred whit same name and add How Tooand we will post pictures and how exactly to do it.and directions.
This trad is going to get biger and biger as time goes and will be hard to find what XYZ did for landing gear or how it reinforced the wings.We will have
our little corner of goodies.All the modifications I make I kep record and when I am done I will post the final result .

Hang in there, I had some of your problems. Iknow is frustrating,and you aspect for every thing to fall in place.But...where will be the chalange.
I curse ,I *****...but looking back on all I did so far...I am happy.I have things to remember when I look at the plane. If all will fall in place....what you'll have to remember.
Your paint job is great I like it. What engine you are using and what proppeler .I will be interested in a 4 blade.I am using a Saito FG20 in mine.

Thanks I am going to stick it out I just need a break-Thanksgiving will take care of that for me. I am going electric! Power 110 on 8s, prop is a zinger 17X8.

The paint scheme is my uncles plane, which is another thing that kills meas I have been waiting to do this project for so long i am doing everything in my power and budget to make this right and its killing me slowly.

Like I said I need a break from her-wish i had a cheap simple arf to throw together-maybe time for a foamy to throw together real quick as a break.......

All i did to reinforce my gear bays was mix up 30 min. epoxy and pour it in and roll the wing around to coat the inside.
Up into the leading edge and as far back as it would flow. Both sides of the ribs. I fly off a grass field so it needs to as strong as possible.
As far as the trim....3 clicks on down elly-vader and it was hands off level.
Needed no aileron trim whatsoever.
Was no balloning with the flaps used either.

I you open the wing...how about 30min epoxy and that blue fomy that is real light and strong.

BradyB, If I remember is using an FA125 , and FG20 is based on this,the exhaust is 13x1mm thread.
My guess is to get this and add the little thing for back pressure

Also does any one had a issue with the nut for the prop that come with the plane. My FG20 shaft is M8x125 and I thing that FA125 is same way.The nut that come is standard .In this case you'll need to make one.
Check the aluminum disk for balance.Mine was out and was real shakey.
DO NOT ORDER the recomaded for the right 90 angle ,that is WRONG part #

And with that in mind BradyB I guess the right exhaust # has to have SAI125

Balanced the spinner backing plate as well, it was WAY heavy on one side.

OK, what's the trick to finding accesories like that on the horizon site? I could use a header like that for an FG-36, but the site stinks as far as finding anything if you don't already know that it exists or have a part number. Would be nice if there was a tab on the engine page that said 'accessories'.

Sorry for the side-track rant, but if there's a trick to finding this stuff it would be nice to know. Do you have to go to the saito site first, see what's available and get a part number, then go back to the horizon site to find it?

At Horizon I just sorted all parts for Saito and then searched for AG AH as many of the 125 and FG-20 parts were designated with AG AH. I assume that would be the correct size. It looks like "AK" would be for the FG-36.

I'm thinking that the exhaust coupler-bolt and exhaust pipe are separated with the big gasket and then sandwiched together with the rings and nuts.
