I had 2 DS821 in the servo parts bin and I install them with the Y cable. The DS821 reversed servos should be okay!!! On the muffler for the 1.25, some of the Saito member will help you with that question. On the Spektrum and JR servo, yes they will work!!. You may also look at going with a onboard glow system or going with a remote glow plug setup.
I went with the Sullivan onboard glow system and it work like a dream. It has its own battery and the add weight came to less than 4 oz!!!
Hope this help and if you need more just post!!!

What engine would you say has more power... the saito 125 or the FG 20... whats going to give more speed.

Default RE: NEW H9 P51 Mustang 60 ARF

would say the FA125
both call for a 16x6 prop
the FG20 is going to be heavier, carrying an EIU and an extra battery.
and knowing nitro engines make a bit more power because of the fuel itself is an oxidizer (nitromethane)
according to the Saito Specifications http://saito-engines.info/specifications.html the FA125 makes 2.2 hp

but this is all just my opinion.

Maiden was both excellent and horrible.

The plane flew awesome, did everything I wanted for about 5-6 minutes with no bad habits. I took it far out for a nice long approach, I guess too far out. It seemed to have lost its signal, rolled back and forth and then flew into the ground. I might have had a servo go bad or the DX6i and AR6200 could have stopped talking too each other. The receiver was new and I hadn't had any issues with it. I just hooked it all back up and there seems to be no problem with the radio gear. Any ideas?

The plane is a total lost with both wings broken, the gear ripped out, and the fuse ripped off the firewall and split down the middle. The Saito seems to be okay other then a slightly bent pushrod tube.

At this point I'm not sure if I want to build another one. On one hand I know exactly how to build it and it should take half the time, on the other I don't know if I want to do it all over again. What might be a better plane for my SAITO 125? Should I build a Top Flight and use the H9 retracts?

Anyone need parts? The header is toast with the pipe being ripped out of the manifold, it sure sounded awesome in the air though.

bradyb,

Sorry to hear about your flight, but I think the radio system that you had in the plane may have done you in. I remember reading on one of the heli forum about the DX6 system and nitro models. It was something about the receiver and the vibration from the engine can cause lost of signal and control loss. The way you said about how the plane roll back and forth and then flew into the ground, was just like the guy who post on the heli forum, said what happen to him. I may be wrong about the DX6 or DX6i system, but, I put my DX6 system out of one of my Align T-Rex600E heli, into one of my T-Rex 600N ( nitro ) and 5 mins into the hover all "H" broke loose. Total control was lost and the heli was toast.
Like you, I hook the system up and it work. Now in all my planes and heli, I go with the DX7 system.
I know it hurt, but, if I was you, I would pickup one more P-51 and do it again.

Take care my friend!!!

Thanks Sonny.
I'll probably build another one.

The Dx6 was not for nitros but I thought the DX6i was?

I thought I had the receiver isolated nicely in foam rubber. I might have forgotten to put the transmitter antenna up in a vertical position and I just kept it pointed straight out from the radio . The receiver was laying flat with the wires laying parallel to wings, the additional receiver was also laying flat with the wires parallel to the fuse. I should have had the second receiver up on the fuse with the wires going up and down. I'm thinking it was a combination of the following, the plane flying low straight at me at about 800' out, the transmitter antenna pointed at the plane, and no receiver wires pointed 90 degrees to the transmitter. What do you think?

I hate not knowing what went wrong. Maybe I slowed it down too much and I just stalled it.

It was a joy to fly though. Fast and stable while slowing nicely with flaps. Tons of power with the Saito 125, great vertical and decent speed with the base 16x6 prop.

I'm very sorry about your plane. I lost a Top Flite b25 on her maiden this summer. It really hurt.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=8884049

Best thing I did was pick up another one and build again. My second one has over thirty flights now and just last weekend had a left engine failure and a death spiral that I actually recovered from.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qu7W-nHMvc

As far as the header I dont think you need it. I bought one but I think I'm going to just use the straight pipe that was provided with the motor straight out of the cowl. I thought you had a FG-20? I saw wires on your pictures so I guess it was a glow driver.

If you loved the plane try again and you wont regret it.

SR

BTW, I had about 300 hours bulding the first B-25. The second took less than 75.

Im almost done with my build and I am thinking about putting a saito 115 in it. I was wondering if the 115 will have enuff power for this plane?

anyone have any idea how to adjust the retracts mechanically? What I mean I have one retract the locks up tightand the other after the servo has driven still has play in the up position causing the gear to hang just a tad.

What you can do is to adjust the linkage length on the up lock side. Turn the clevis on that gear linkage by half a turn in untill you have a full up lock. Keep doing this untill you hav ethe gear the way you want them. I was lucky both gear work very good. Try this and let me know if it work for you. I can not wait for some good weather to fly my baby. Everything is ready to go, but the weather has a mind of it own. Come on spring!!!!!

Oh yeah, I got the Saito running after the crash! I Couldn't get it to start all day and then I finally figured out that one of the push rods had been knocked off its seat on the lifter. Now it's running great again.

I can't wait to do a perfect rebuild.

I just ironed the wrinkles out. the covering will shrink up a bit if you use a medium hot setting. just takes a little time as the iron has to set on the wrinkle a bit. just have to try it and see what works best for you. make sure you have a clean sock on the iron.
i perfur to use a paper towel between the iron and the covering.
the heat gun will just make the covering bubble up worse, it did on mine. just apply a light pressure to hold the wrinkle down and the iron will do the rest.

today, the OTHER wheel pulled its center out on the take off roll........3/4 throttle and tail up....and the wheel fell apart.....
something about the wheels just isnt holding up. the plastic seemed to be brittle as glass.

just glad it was on take off and not landing.

Hi there,
Well, I have read all the posts since the begining and found many good tips and info.
My H9 P51 Blue nose is due to come in about two weeks. The power plant will be a Saito 125-already bought one. I know its a great looking plane with a pair of nice retracts. In fact this is one of the main reasons Im getting this model.
What I need to know is about the flight caracteristics. Take offs, aerobatis, landings, stolling...................
You guys who finished the model and tested it tell us all about its flight character.
Cant wait to read more details, tips and info.

Regards
