Thanks jet22b, I really appreciate the comments. I tried my best to make her look good. She weighs exactly 10 lbs. Because of the lack of time on my part, she probably will not get air-born until next week. But i will surely report back to you guys on her maiden flight. I will also try and post video on the break in of the 95AX. Do you think it will power the plane good? I think it will.

I think the 95AX will give good power for this bird!! When I had my Blue Nose, I had a OS 1.20 FS in the nose and her weight was 11.5 lbs!! Alot of that weight came from the 1.20FS. Take your time and check and re-check everything for her maiden flight and I pray you have a good one!!!
Take care.

Thanks,..the old timers at the hobby store also think it will power it good. I still have to CG her and as I said, break in the engine this week. But I am very excited to get her up in the air. Can you tell me again how you lost your blue nose ? Sorry, so many postings, I can't remember right now.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up on my blue nose. I had the OS 95AX break in this week and it was all good. Very powerful engine by the way. She should fly well with this one. Also checked her CG and really did not have to touch a thing. She was just slightly nose heavy, which is not bad. It is a cement runway so tipping over on take off will not be a problem. I didn't touch it since it was not a big deal At least she is not tail heavy,..that would be a problem. Going to run her engine a little today and tom morning she will have her maiden flight. I will take video of ( hopefully ) a successful maiden flight and post it for you guys. Stay tuned till then,..............

Thanks for sharing your pictures. Your son look like he was saying, enough pictures, let's go flying!!! Oh wait, that was the plane!!! Great job with the Blue Nose. I am still trying to make up my mind to go with another Blue Nose or the Top Flite P-51 60 ARF!!! I would just buy both, but, the wife would kill me!!!!
Again, beautiful plane and son!!

This plane does have its problems, but in the air it looks great and I have been able to be very consistent on the landings, even in very windy conditions. Flew Saturday at the Austin club field, it was extremely windy, but the wife managed to get a few flight shots! Anyway, I thought I’d post some of what I did with this plane in case anyone is interested. Here is what I added:
<o></o>
Full Royal/Marutaka cockpit kit with the now discontinued Top Flite pilot figure.
My own scale exhaust
Functional rear cooler door that opens with throttle
Robart retracable tail wheel with working gear doors
Robart 511W1 85 Degree Mains w3/16” wire retracts
Robart Robostrut 4” wheel 7/16”
O.S. 75AX ABL
Top Flite In Cowl Muffler and Header

The full cockpit did not alter the stock radio set up, I just built a box over the servos and it acts as the pilot seat. My plane came out lighter than most because I cut out lots of unnecessary wood. As an example, my hatch with the full cockpit weighs 2oz less than the stock hatch without a cockpit. Removing the hatch removes most of the cockpit because the sides are attached to the hatch. The pilot is held in with a functional 3-point harness, the harness is held to the seat back with Velcro. I have about 20 flights on my plane now, but you can view the maiden here on my Youtube channel along with some other video’s regarding the mods shown here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaUL_IjOpqAVery nice plane. Excellent craftsmanship too! You did a really nice job! Good video too. You inspire me to do better detail work!
Thanks for all the PICS and the video! Great job! Great ideas on the custom stuff you did to your P-51. Cockpit is just the bomb!!!
Just can't say enough!
