Thanks LDM. Some other members have graciously posted some pics over in the saito FG 20 21 thread to give me a hand as to what they have done when it comes to baffling inside the cowl as well. They indicated that the baffles cured problems related to engines running poorly with the cowl installed but otherwise ran ok with the cowl off. Great bunch of people on here sharing ideas.
If you are interested i can post a few pics of my tank support.

My Feedback: (13)
Successful maiden flight on my H9 P-51 Bluenose this morning. No drama. No video. Sorry.
No wind which is highly unusual. Plane tracked straight down the runway with a little right rudder. Off the ground, gear up, some right trim and a little up trim. Made a couple of circles up high, responded well. Slowed down, went to half flaps, added a little up trim, made a big circle. Full flaps, slowed more, added a little more up trim, made a circle. Dropped the gear, slowed more. Still no sign of a stall during this circle. Going slow enough to land so I never did stall the plane. Came around and made a really nice landing. Looked solid the whole way.
About 11.25 lbs, CG at 4.5" or so, RX battery and 4 oz lead on motor box in front of firewall.
Saito 125, Tru Turn spinner, Wingspan Retracts, Robart P-51 struts and 3.25" wheels.
This particular plane was an early production run with questionable quality control, wrong info in manual, etc. The original owner did a little work on the wing, then put it away because of all the negative info at the time. I bought it in a mostly new condition earlier this summer.
Thanks to all who posted about this plane on various threads. Read all I could find and made fixes. One flight is just a start, but I think the extra work made this a really good plane.
and a picture just after the landing on the maiden flight.

Brain;
Happy to hear you had a very good maiden flight.
When they come back in-stock, I will pick up another one.
She is a good one and a keeper!!

I have one of those Xtreme http://rcmodelaircraft.com.au/produc...eme-pilot.html pilot busts in my Bluenose.
Looks kinda cool, but a bit on the large side and cartoon'ish. Also a tad heavy.
I have seen several Bluenose flyers using them though.
The guy with the cigar is what I have. Certainly gives this plane character !

I have one of these in mine (it's either this one or the 90mm one), while a little larger than scale, I did think it looked better than a smaller option:
