I'm going for July 4th. Maybe that's when folks will be free of worries and free of landing gear problems.

Notice.....I did not put a year!!

Good catch!

The crystal ball sez..... oooppps.... its gettting foggy in their....

wait.... I see...... more fog!

I wil advise when this thing clears up!

I know all who are waiting will be satisfied beyond words!

Being in sales and talking to customers every day, they would always like a response
positive or negative instead of no response at all! As spoken in other replies.

Just my thoughts.....again.

Well with Shindin working on a set I'll wait and see. I've seen some of his results and his prices... Also when I contacted him about a custom job - gear for an 81" Mosquito - he said "send me the schematics of the gear." I postponed the project on my end, but Larry was ready to set up the deal and do the job - also at a better price than the offered set through Bob Holman.

So when the day comes for quality gear, not only will we have a set but TWO sets to choose from.

Well I still feel justified in pulling out of this fiasco. I follow this thread now out of Morbid Curiosity to see if Darrell will be PROFESSIONAL enough to post something to inform his CUSTOMERS of 6 month delay. I'm sure he's working his pants off on his "BIG GEAR"

Hope everyone is made whole on this one.

you've got some merit Rocket. For me, I'm not ready to buy gear yet... Hell the Bird is still in the box! I'm looking to pull it out soon, but I've got so many things i can/have to do before I'm ready for gear it's not a big headache. Also I didn't buy a corsair until after the deposit thing...

When it's time to drop in gear I'll decide from what's on the market ready to buy.. So I'm getting CJM if nothing else, Shindin if' it's available. and if Darryll AND Larry are out... .Then I'll research and decide.

No worrys

I am hoping to be able to pick up mine on Toledo in April if they are finished. If they are not done I guess I will just keep on waiting. I have several building and repairing projects to finish before I begin my P-40. At the rate I am going it will be late summer before I can get to it any way.

We had 50's and sunshine today in NYC for the first time in what seems forever. That got the flying bug seriously stirred! Of course the field was closed. I probably have 2-3 months of work ahead of me AFTER I have the retracts so . . . .

Lucky me just picked up a used CG Super Chip/Surpass 91. How I long for warm weather. Now that we got it (well, 50 is warm after what we've had), there is still the matter of the (5') snow drift blocking the drive to the field. grrrrr.

Default Updates?

Haven't been around lately, but I'm just dropping in for my monthly visit and to check on the status of the gear that I sent my deposit in for.

C'mon Darrell, can we at least have an update? I really hate to ask for my deposit back after I've waited so long...

Default I'm out

I just sent Darrell an email requesting back my $300 deposit on three sets of gears. Just not getting a warm fuzzy.

I'll consider buying them again when they are "on the market"

I sent him an emaila few weeks back requesting info on his current gear for the TF Giant Scale P47 and Corsair, never even got a reply

think i will stick to the Robart units, at least you know they will reply and you will get your gear in 2 weeks

Default RE: RE: RE: Reponse from Sierra

One way to bump this is to ask a question:

Building the TF Corsair

Like all of you, I am waiting for the sierras (I may be old and gray and give up soon but in any case) but in case they are a figment of someone's imagination, I need to prepare for CJ's.

I've been working around them for a while now but don't think I can build much more without an idea of what is needed. To that end, I am just starting on the center section and have some general questions.

After I've got the center spar epoxied, it suggests I put any holes in it that the gear requires. I have never built with retracts and don't have access to a pair of CJ's.

Where / how big / etc should I put any holes in this spar for the CJ's?

What about in the ribs that attach to the center spar?

Or can the retract hoses, wiring, etc just go thru the lightening holes and not worry about drilling. If it matters, I am going to be using dual aileron servos, not crank system.

Pics would be fantastic (to accompany your suggestions).

Thanks in advance.

Len - I happen to have the CJ's. I put them into my PICA Corsair when I first heard about the Sierra gear. I will dig up the drawing for you. They supply a drawing showing how to modify the spar to make room for the air cylinder. Back in a bit . . . .
