Default Composite-ARF Spitfire

Does anyone know when Composite-ARF is planning on releasing their Spitfire? Also if anyone has any details about size or Mk # for this plane I'd love to hear about it. After getting what I consider to be my dream aerobatic fleet, it's finally time to recreate the plane that my grandfather flew in the war, and I want to do it right. I'm not limiting myself to the Compy kit and have no problems with building a wood kit, but I was very impressed with their Corsair so this plane is currently at the top of my list, as long as the specs are in line with what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for any information you guys might have.

I don't think Comp Arf ever have released a Spitfire - it was their predecessor company Fibre Classics that made the Spitfire.

An offshoot of that company still exists and can be found at: -

[link=http://www.fc-scaleparts.de/spitfire.html]Fibreclassic Scaleparts[/link]

But if you are seriously looking at a spitfire have a look at Mick Reeves models

Good luck

Best regards

Jason, I have heard rumors that Comp-ARF will be releasing a Spitfire shortly. I know they haven't done one before but I was hoping someone might have the inside scoop. Thanks for the information.

I hadn't heard that but brilliant news if true especially if it is same quality as the Corsair.

Thanks for the scoop.

Looks like it's out! I have decided that this will be my winter project. Looking forward to ordering the kit and accessories later this summer or in the fall. In the meantime I'm doing as much research as I can. I found that my grandfather was in the 222 sqdn when they were flying the Mk IX, so I feel comfortable recreating a 222sqdn scheme and knowing that my grandfather had flown this type. Planning on using a DA-85 for power, so it should be a rocket!

When I talked to Darrell at WOD, he said that he has two of them for sale.
He had one of them at the show in the box.
Lots of detail.

And now all we need is a decent engine to power it with- http://dynamotive.netfirms.com/merlin/
My major gripe with going large especially in this case is having to stick a noisy chain saw sounding donk in the nose of such a pretty model. After hearing those gorgeous radial engine powered Comp ARF Corsairs anything less than a decent sounding engine would be a sad compromise. Maybe if we all 'pray' hard enough Saito will produce a 440 Ti inline twin 4 stroke

Forget the nose is pointy? Build yourself a V-12 then...Nothing wrong with a DA-85 "chain saw" motor with a STEEL 2 inch extention on the shaft. Or another ZDZ inline 100 "chainsaw" motor to buzz it around the sky.

They are now ready to order. Could have picked one up in Delaware, last weekend with the gear if you were so inclined.

Sam Parfitt... Let me know how the new Bearcat goes.

Lets not forget to "pray" for Saito

Thats a $2000 compromise, not everyone is wealthy enough to drop $3-4k on a toy plane motor. That said, radials are cool and Ill probably get one someday, Im just saying. I dont see too many options for these narrow nose birds, if any.

I would go with the electric conversion and use a Benedini Merlin sound system before mounting a polished weedwacker motor in any Spitty of mine
Until Saito get there act together and develop a decent sized 4 stroke the Moki M 360RC twin might be the way to go if the carby will fit within the cowl..

I'm thinking of going with a DA-85 and a cannister muffler on my Spitfire. Straight exhaust stacks are loud but the real thing doesn't sound anywhere near that, and there should be a very nice sound coming from the prop and intake on the DA to make a very pleasant sound flying the Spit around.

Default RE: Composite-ARF Spitfire

scale exhaust CAN be made for this, but I think that the way to go IS to have a
nice dependable inline twin with a canister(if you can get it to fit.....

It would sound just great......
The problem with some of the DA engine 9or clones) is that you really need a extension to get the engine
back far enough so that it doesn't hang out the front of the plane....

Saito inline Alcohol engine??? NO thanks.....
Taking that out to fly would be like going to Lake Minnetonka with you
large yaht and running it wide open for 1-hour......
That would cost you a small fortune in Fuel.......

Inless saito can get there more recent gas engine failure, to run consistanly,
there is't much hope of them converting there big GLOW GUZZLERS to gasoling
anytime soon.....A real bummer....

Im putting a DA-170 chainsaw motor in mine. (or a ZDZ Super 160)
In pretty sure it will be going so fast no body will pay attention to the chain saw sound or the fact the motor sticks out both sides of the cowl.
I dont want to hear anyone whiningand sayingit can't handle the motor either.
I will post on YouTube in Spring of the "2nd flight"
(just incase it can't handle the motor on themaiden flight)
Now I am going to say a prayer for Saito

What mark is this Spit?? in the PRU colours, it looks MK19, yet the canopy is MK9, in other shots, it looks MK9, does it have the gull shape. underneath the wing, at the root? having looked at Mike Booths all composite Spit, over here, at 1/4scale, Mikes has it all, and then some, shame it costs the earth to mail one to you guys, truly, you would be in awe at Mikes Spit
