Default Finishing wheel wells "help"

so I am doing scale struts with functional oleos on my 120 size Zero and have discovered that the existing wheel wheels need to be modifiyed and or replaced , after widening and tweakeing the existing cutout , I need to make a new wheel well or box the interior in some how , being that I am better at visual aids , I was hopeing some of you could share some pic of your set up maybe get some ideas on how this it is suppose to be done , and look when completed , some buiding tips or tricks would also be greatly appreciated

My Ziroli Corsair was shot down back in 1992 so visual aid is imposible, but the wheel wells were made from margerine tubs trimmed to fit. They worked great. Good Luck.

I formed some balsa sheeting by spraying it with alcohol and water 50/50%bent the wells with a tape roll, just allowed it to soak the wood when flexable slipped the roll over it and let it dry overnight so it cut easaly.

when dry Ifit thecirclepieces into the wing forthe wheels, thenI fit the 1/8 balsa into the wing for the channels,I have done several like this its pretty easy, this one was for a Hangar-9 Mustang that I installed LADO gear into, the struts were too big for the plastic liners that H-9 have for the wells, I did the same for my H-9 P-40 as well

and the H-9P-40, Ibuilt up a smallU shaped sectionfor thestrutchannel to connect the well to gear actuator then carefully cut the sheeting back so i could slip the boxin there and tack the wood in place with thin CA worked like a charm,I used the space under the channel to route the aileron servowires through, after doing a small amount of trimming of the wing ribs.

this is my latest bit of retract work,my Royal FW190A8,having established the gear, and wheelplacement, I used some tracing paper to develop a resonable shape for the opening, using myscale documentation as a guide,I then cut that out and 77spray adhesived it to some cardboard for a template so both sides were the same, I will make channels that are close to scale they tuck back behind the edge of the wing sheeting and tie into the well area.

it really depends on if you want to straiten some of the cut out areas out for a closer to scale look, if your going with struts rather than wires you can get rid of the cut out for the spring loop, and clean up the shape of the opening

I love the LADO's I have, there a quality item they take a while to get done, there bogged down with orders, but there getting quicker at building them, I have another set of rotators, for a H-9 F4U on order, thatI have in the box, that I plan on using struts with also.

another project for wheel wells .

This is my 190. It has a foam wing but lined it with balsa the very thin styrene instead of glassing and sanding ETC.
