Thanks. That's great news. If this plane can fall in the 10 pound range it might be a really nice flyer. I was thinking of the OS 120 AX for power.

Flew the maiden! Wow, what a fine looking bird screaming low and fast, just how I'd hoped. The Thunder Tiger F-91S combined with a Master Airscrew 14 x 6 prop absolutely makes this plane rip! Half throttle is just perfect for scale flight and full throttle flybys are stunning. The sound is awesome.
The recommend high rate throws for the ailerons are a bit conservative which make rolls a little too slow. I'll increase them by an 1/8 to a 1/4".
The plane slows down really well and flaps would only be needed if I was flying on a shorter runway.
No video of today's flight, but I should have video of tomorrows.

If you join the tower hobbies super saver club they send you e-mails where you get $60 off this plane. The club costs $10 to join so you end up saving $50. Pretty good deal.

Ed,
Is that $60/$50 deal going on right now for this P-47D?

RE: NEW Top Flite .60 P-47D Gold Edition ARF
Hi guys
I am ni the built of my p47 which will be electrified. Found out about the hidden hatch, but this is going to be a true pain in the ass, since i haven't done anything like cutting or similar things. Actually i want to ask at what stage of the built should i try to open the hatch ? I just finished with the belly pan and guns.
Any info on how to do that will be highly appreciated. I ve dpne my search but i found images of already cut hatches and a how to.
Thanks

RE: NEW Top Flite .60 P-47D Gold Edition ARF
I ordered one of these using the deal that rc34074 brought to my attention. What a great deal...
I have some questions about what is going in it now...
I think I am going to put 6 Hitec HS-485HB servos in and 1 HS-425HB servo on the throttle. I will be using a AR7000 rx with a DX7 radio. I am not sure about the retracts yet.
What type/size battery should I be looking at? NiMH or NiCD? 6V or 4.8V?
I have another question about what the Top Flite manual call for...
The manual calls for 2 y-harnesses and gives a recommendation for using 2 Futaba 6" Dual Servo Extension J (FUTM4130).
When I look on tower hobbies website for a Futaba 6" Dual Servo Extension J (FUTM4130) it says right in the description that "This extension allows you to hook up two servos to one channel on the receiver but it does not Y." Does this serve the purpose of a Y-harness?
This is my first 60 size Nitro plane so any help would be great..

I have been reading that build log and it is going to help me a bunch. I dont think I want a lithium battery because its going to require me to buy another charger too. I was looking at this battery http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXNHS4&P=0
Does this look ok?

Hi dbronst3790
I didn't see your April 4 flying-video until today. Those were some very smooth and nice take-offs, flying, and landings. Nice axial rolls with level-wing entries and exits. You've done this before.
Nice!!!
