NEW Top Flite .60 P-47D Gold Edition ARF
Just in time for this Summer's warbird events, the new P-47D ARF from Top Flite. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.
- [*]Estimated 15 - 20 hours of construction time[*]Full cockpit ready for your choice of pilot[*]Radial engine detail and pre-painted fiberglass cowl[*]Includes mechanical retracts[*]Flat finish MonoKote over a built up and sheeted airframe[*]A Top Flite first, decals for different aircraft[*]Perfect with the O.S. 61FX two stroke or O.S. FS-91S II Four stroke[/list]Even as a 60 size warbird, this plane looks big and impressive. Check out the P-47D Top Flite page and video at http://www.top-flite.com/airplanes/topa0955.html

It's a good thing (for my wallet and domestic bliss!) that this isn't a razorback. Otherwise I'd have my order in right now.

I wish TFwould come out with a 1.20-1.50 size of this, and in Razorback version!
They need bigger warbird arfs. They have had the mustang for years but need
to produce the p-47 in the 1/6 scale 80" arf range like they have with the mustang!

I think it is the perfect size! Along with Top Flite's P-51D! 60 size yea! KMP has all the bigger stuff. I wish these TF ARF's did NOT come with the mechanical retracts. I like to use my own Retracts of choice-Robart air.
I see a couple of bashes in my future!!
Bring the P-40 next!

I was hoping it would be electric capable like the mustang arf, but in looking at the manual it does not appear to have the same option. Maybe it has the options built in but I missed it.
I like that they included decals for multiple versions!
I LIKE the fact that it is done in OD instead of silver!!
I also wish it was the razorback version, and 1/5 scale.
I can't wait to see it in person.

Ditto: multiple is GREAT!
Ditto, WAY too many late war silver warbirds out there
Ditto on the Razorback, but I like the '60 size'

Glad you guys like the OD, the BMF versions were healy modeled. None of the Top Flite Warbird ARFs have an electric set up, just nitro, but that hasn't stopped some of you .

But it's only a 63" wingspan??? A 1/7th scale would have put it right at 70". Then it would have looked "scale" sitting next to its sister ship, the P-51. Sorry, but this plane is way closer to 1/8th scale than it is to 1/7th scale. It does look great tho......... =)

Now, as far as this P-47. Well, I'll pass since it I dont like the bubble top canopy. Like most have said, if it had been a razorback, i'd probably get one. As it is, it doesnt look much different then the H9 60 size P-47 except with some green covering.

I like this plane exactly the way it is Jim you guys are listening and watching the arf bashing and it show s.
Nice flaps , great interior , sheeted wings , retracts or air retract ready all I can say I dont know what I will do with my time saved not having to bash this plane ... I am in for one !!!!
Also cant wait until you also release the P40

Ummm...the TF .60 size P-51 DOES have an electric setup hatch already in place on the plane with magents already glued in place. Only thing the modeler has to do is cut the covering material to release the hatch. Pics of this have been shown in detail on the p-51 60 size arf thread. I have this plane and sure enough, when I went and looked after seeing mention of it, yup, magents were already in place. There is nothing in themanual about it though. .............................

Ilike it ! I had to bash the BHM P-47 to get that look
Now I'll just wait for the SeaFury or Zero... One can only hope.
I'll bet that their next ARF will be the P-40

Veetee,
I bought the plane from Hobby People out of California on a clearance sale of $139. bucks.
They no longer carry it, but I believe there is a company called "American Pioneer Hobbies" who primarilty carry BHM products.
The plane isn't all that scale, but it's well built and if done up properly, only the real knitpickers can give you grief).
I bashed a number of parts of it, and I should have replaced the canopy w/ a TF canopy.
I've stripped and recovered her, Robart air retracts & struts, the cowl came from a H9, I built the cockpit, scratch made supercharger vents etc... At 100 bucks less than a H9 (and the BHM has flaps and flying tail surfaces), and at less than 1/2 price of of the TF, it looked like it was worth the time to re-work. I just got impatient and didn't modify the tailwheel, asI just wanted to fly her.
There's also a guy from England who re-did his and has it flying on YouTube...His looks great as well and shows the original cowl.
On-line, don't pay attention to the lousy marketing BHM uses as it's nearly impossible to tell what the plane really looks like (aside from the lame covering job).
If theTF P-47 ARF was out, I probablywould have bought it as it really lookslike a real beauty (though the wings may be slightly off) but overall, it looks to be an incredible ARF.
P.S. the T shirt was a give-away for a new drink... Sounds like it would make anyone sick if they drank it, if you know what i mean (not that i've ever done that...This is a family friendly website; right ?)
