Hey Terry, I'll get some pics up later, but it looks like the ring ceased and a piece broke off and tapdanced on the piston before it left the room.
Anyways, looks like I was the cause of this failure.
As I ran the engine it was getting stronger all the time. I had to keep leaning it as it broke in. I guess I went to far.
But it was hauling ass right before it gave up.[8D]

I have been flying with Moki engines for ten years, in that time I have had one deadstick and that was because I accidently put the wrong Glow Plug in an engine.

Here is what I think happened to your engine. The right was installed incorrectly. The right gap should be oposite the exhaust port. Looking at your pictues it appears as though the ring gap was installed on the exhaust side. This normally causes the ring to clip the port and break.

Moki engines are great and once you get them dialed in they keep on going, but the mess it makes puts me off.
That is a great looking spit you have there T47, the prices on those DLE replacement parts is not overly expensive. $70 for cylinder and piston from tower.

Hey Bob, I was thinking the same thing. I even asked a few people if that was the way it was suppose to be. They said they didn't know.
As for Tower. I tryed that. They didn't have anything for the 50 that I needed. just the 55cc
As for glow, I don't have easy access to glow fuel. Plus I hate glow fuel [>:]
Maybe I'll find parts one day.

Next time go with a 1.8 Moki. 200 flights no dead sticks (except for a broken fuel line)

Hi,
Any chance you have pics of your cowling? I'm considering creative options for my Yellow Spit, and I have a Moki in it.

which led directly to the ring failior. a picture of the plug would have been nice too see. next time
run it a bit leaner and watch your oil mix carefully.
