Hey Terry (tfarmer), got a question for ya. Are you gap sealing the ARF's ( P-47's) with the DA 85's? I'm concerned about flutter at the speeds I'm going to be attaining with this one and the 4.2 Brison. I've seen flutter on a Warbird, It's not pretty, needless to say, this prarticular Warbird (not mine) did not come home in one piece...........
Anybody else who would like to add some input to my question would be appreciated..............THANKS

I finished the install of my cowl with the side muffler. I didn't like it so I have ordered a slimline wrap around and a new cowl....

LOL[sm=lol.gif] I was hoping I'd get a response on my homebuilt static. It's just the blades that came with my Hanger 9 Ferocious Frankie. I built a hub and temporarily attached my tru turn flying spinner to it. Ya.......it came out ok for a static look at the field.......NOT MEANT TO BE SCALE OR WON'T BE FLYING IN ANY SCALE CONTEST!!!!

Another question for TFarmer.............

I purchased a Best Pilot just like you used in your building post. But it's a bit to wide to fit in the finished cockpit. Did you have to trim the rear of the cockpit to make the pilot fit? I guess you removed the seat platform also?

Thanks Again

Steve

i did remove the seat and the seat platform. I also trimed the sides of the cockpit to get them as far apart as possible. The pilot fit it was just tight. I used RTV to glue him in.

Hi Steve,

Just some food for thought, I also have a TF P47 ARF, I live in South Georgia, where this summer was a heater, 100* plus for many days, but in July we were at Warbirds Over Delaware, after awhile we noticed that my seat was curling up because of the heat, in fact the top had curled really bad.
So thanks to Carl and Paul, they gave us some insulation sheets they were using, saved the day as Mac's B-29 canopywas really getting soft too.
A fix could be also adding some back support to thin plastic seat back.

Attached is my razorback conversion with turtle deck from Terry and canopy bought from Tower. Has DA 85 up front with pitts wrap around, had to cut a little into cowl at lower side to fit. Please help me decide on different color scheme for the cowl that resembles something from WWII. Any nose art that I can print onto decal paper will be greatly appreciated also. I'm going to try for Fuchs 21x10 4 blade prop to start. Anyone tried other 4 bld props besides the expensive solo option???

I am building the second TF GS P-47 in our club. The DA-50 is in the first aircraft and has more than enough power. That is what is going in mine. I prefer DAs reliability to anything else. Plus their service is the best in the industry. If one wants to go faster than scale, my bet would be on the new DA-60.

Do have thoughts of converting the Robarts to electric.

Not going to go flying until it starts warming up. Here things should get better in about a month.

I was one of the guy who converted my GS TF p51 robarts to lado electrics back when Doug was running the company.

http://www.wyliewarbirds.com/project...p51/index.html

These were very impressive. They worked flawlessly. You can see how great they look working in the air. Below is a video

http://www.wyliewarbirds.com/video/tf/tfp51d/p51dm.wmv

Now with all that said why dont i still use them. Lado as lot of folks know had very slow delivery time. I have heard the new folks that own it are much better about delivery times.

I believe earlier in this thread someone was running a Biela 24 X 10 4 blade on a DA 85. TBM carrys them and they are around 110 or 115.00.

For this bird yes. they are light and dont require you to modify the wing. Just the way i looked at it. Now the gear is not in the scale position and the wheel size is a bit small to be scale but they arnt bad
