Don't know if it is out of stock now.

I,m just getting back after a brief hiatus from modelling and think that this bird in ARC form will make a great winter project!
This will be the chosen colour scheme.
Keep the pics and info coming guys.

Great looking plane.
Wish I could find one of these NIB on sale somewhere.
Seems like the price just keeps going up....

Hey pacoflyer are you referring to at your LHS or do you have info that TopFlite will be increasing the price?
I think the price at Tower is still the same as when it was released.

Ok thanks.
I,m waiting to recieve one next week and figure that I,ll be getting another one once I see it first hand.
If the price was going to jump up a fair bit, I would call the LHS and get another one now for the same low price.

What prop are you guys using? Size, pitch and brand. I have a DLE55 in my P47. I like the looks of the Xoar black and silver. Any comments on performance? Also recomendations on a source for wing tank pylons, and stuff like that.

I bought a pair of wing pylons from Aerotech, just need a little sanding and paint. Won't hang any ordnance on them, just like the look of them, very detailed.

I also have a DLE55 in mine. I have tried afew Mejzlik props, mostly3-blade 21X12 and 2-blade 22X10. Best performance by far is with 2-blade 22X10.

Plus the full scale P-47 never flew with a 3 blade prop

Thats basics, 2 blade is more efficient.

Never flew with a 2-blade prop either, I believe? The reason for trying a 3-blade had to do with noise reduction.

Hey guys, I am new to the forum, however not new to the Hobbie.  I have decided after reading countless pages on this forum that the TF GS P47 AFR is the next plane for me.  This will be my first Giant scale plane (my largest to date is the Hangar 9 Blue Nose P51), and I am looking forward to flying this bird.  I have some questions for you guys though, a lot of time has passed since the intoduction of this plane and there have been some new smaller radial engines that have been released on the market.  So just like everyone else I would love to have a radial (while there are other companies out there that are bigger and better suited for radials, my budget is not big enough for them).

It seems Evolution has released a 77cc (re-branded Sidel I think) with a diameter of 9.1, and a power out put of 4.8hp.  The DLE55 (will be my engine of choice if I can't find a radial) is rated at 5.5, so a bit more powerful.  There is also the O.S. sirus7(a little out of my budget) with similar dimensions but no mention of power.  There is also the Saito radial, again similar dimensions and power.  The Saito and Evolution are my current to top choices, mainly due to budget and size.

My main concern is of course, are these engines powerful enough?  And will the fit?  I found somewhere on the pages of this thread that someone has mentioned that the cowling was 10" wide, so I presume they will fit, so are they powerful enough?

Thanks for all the input and I can't wait to get my bird and get it flying!

a 50cc has plenty of power, so anything in that ballpark will be fine.

I agree the DLE 55 is perfect match, FYI being the cheap guy that I am I recently tried a DM55 which in my opinion is the same engine as a DLE and it gave the exact same performance in my P47 for alot less money

That sounds interesting! man what a price! Do you know if it will accept a pitts muffler as well? Perhaps the same as the DLE? Iam still hell bent on a Radial though if it will work that is. Other wise like Isaid, probably the DLE55, or maybe now this DM55.

The DLE and of course the DM both can use the pitts style muffler. I use the one from BISSON mufflers and the sound is great. A small amount of massaging required on the bottom of the engine box but no big deal.

In my previous post Istated I was thinking of either the Evolution 77cc or the Saito 325. Also possibly the O.S. Sirius 7 (a little outa my price range though). Iam leaning toward the Evo 77cc, seems to be the best bang for your buck, just a little concerned about the power though. The DLE55 or the DM55 for that matter both quote 5.5hp, and the evo is quoted at 4.8, and it's heavier (however it seems most have had to put weight in the nose wih the DLE, so Iwouldn't have with this engine).

do you really want to spend that much for fuel each flight, and clean up the slime? Go gas
