I got one of these for my jug and he blows away any other pilots. Great detail and you get a 50 cal with him to boot. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?ur...wman&x=11&y=13

RE: Top Flite Giant P47 arf IS coming
Aren't these 1/6 scale 12" action figures a bit small?
I had a BBI WWII 1/6 scale full body Japanese fighter pilot in
my yellow Aircraft A6M Zero, 80" span 1/6 plane and he
was a big small for the cockpit. I could have actually gone with
a 1/5 but could not find one that was as realistic as the BBI.
I know that having a realistic pilot is great but if it's too small wouldnt
that look out of place vs. not having one at all?
The TF giant P-47 jug is much larger than the 1/6 cockpit area wise.

The TF P-47 scale is 1:5.75
more to 1:6 the to 1:5
A 1:5 scale would be 97 inches... and the pilot need to be 14 inches about.
So, that means the 12 inch dragons and all the other manufactures are pretty much on...

Hey Manfred, I did see the figure you linked to, but at $83 it's a little pricey for this project. Very nice though! My P-47 should be here tomorrow and I have a ZDZ 80 waiting to go in it. I should have it ready for Bomber in a few weeks.

The detail on this figure is way nicer than any of the other Dragon or BBI etc etc pilots I have and definately outfitted perfectly for this ship. The 50 cal that comes with it is all metal and a tad heavy, was planning on using a pair of them for my Dauntless, probably need the wieght up front anyways. Got my retract tailgear the other day so now I have everything I need but time!

Maiden today of my TF P47. I removed the blue star field and re-painted the cowl sliver and black. TF has a winner - the model grooves very well, land slow and is rock solid in the air.

the blue star field came off very easily. I would recommend not following the scallop pattern blue star field. If I had to do it again I'd cut a larger rectangle piece and blend it along a vertical edge. I'm not a monokote guy - I much prefer oracover. So the recover didn't come out as nice as I would have liked. After flying it for a while I probably recover the whole plane.

What gear are you using? When retracted, do the gear doors sit flush with the bottom of wing? With the Zenoah 62, did you have to add any nose weight and what muffler are you using? Thanks.

Couple of q's....
THe da85.....I know realize that quite a few engines sound like that....but did you tune the needles???
Did it deadstick on you???
The guy yelling "NOSE DOWN" must be thinking the plane is about 25lbs more and is going to snap on you????
I think you did the right thing.....never listen to the old maid Screaming in the background...!!!!
They always give poor advice!!!

that motor was new out of the box. i ran it way rich and i had my low idle set way to low. I have adjusted it and its fine now. By the way it’s a screamer with that motor

BTW - where did you buy the engine mount for your DA-85?

Well after 5 flites we heard a strange noise and immeadiatly landed. Found 2 of the cowl mounts had broken from vibration. The cowl was loose on the top and was vibrating. Will take off cowl today and repair. I have a Cunningham G-62 in this aircraft. If it is shaking apart from a 62 what will it do with an 85. Stuka Jon

Second report. After hearing a strange noise while flying I took the cowl off and found not 2 broken cowl mounts but 4. I will try to repair them but it looks to me like they were put together after painting with the glue or epoxy only sticking to the glue. Sanding the paint off the glued portion and regluing. They look a little to lite to take the weight of the cowl and resist shaking. I would suggest no weight be added to assist balancing. I was lucky I did not have to add any weight whatsoever. If they break again I will have to make some solid ones. Stuka Jon

Very surprised. I know a guy that offers a fiberglass fuse for
the TF giant p-47,,, but does anyone know if there is a razorback
conversion?
