I'm going to pull the grease out of my front case and service with gear oil. Can anybody discuss the peculiars involved in getting the prop drive off, removing the nut etc. or is it straightforward?

It's a simple enough job, you will need a 19mm deep socket. I then use the prop washer as a puller.

I was waiting for that mitch. lol. Here's how I do it.

On the cam ring you will find a timing pip, this is lined up with the top 4mm front cover bolt hole. I rotate the crank until you can see a philips screw centred in the induction tract, (carb removed), the engine is now at TDC on #1. Fit the gears.

Thanks, Mick. I'll hope it's the same on my 300. But the grease has to go. . . . .

BTW - Is that a Flash jet in you member Icon? I sold mine to finance the my Rear Bear!

No it's an Ultra Bandit. Well out of date though my current pride is a Jerry Bates 1:4 Sea Fury.

For the 300 you will need a 23mm long socket, I wish you luck getting that undone though!

I might consider doing a "running flush" by filling the case with a light oil to dissolve the grease then drain.

Is anyone using the Emcotec PowerFuel RX pump. This is the one with a RX jack and and a Battery jack on the back. and an Ign/prog jack on the top (which says in the manual is not to be used). I was planing on using a PowerBox Spark Switch to run the pump and Ignition of one battery and one switch on the transmitter. But, it looks like I have run a seperate battery lead and switch to the pump instead of just using a switch on the transmitter to supply the power to turn the pump on or off. BTW, the directions say not to mix the ing. and pump switches.

This is exactly how I have my set up on my 300cc, same pump and PowerBox Spark Switch.. I have a separate battery and switch. I did it this way just to make sure I completely isolated it from the RX. Runs great. So, I have a RX switch, Fuel Pump Switch and Ignition. Each its own battery and switch.

So, do you have 3 Spark Switches each with their own batteries, controlled from the transmitter? Or, Since there is an RX port on the back of the pump, I thought that you would have a lead from your receiver to the RX port on the pump and turn the pump off and on with a switch on the transmitter. Then, battery to pump with a manual switch?, Then battery to ignition with Spark Switch so you can cut the ing. on and off from the transmitter?BTW, it looks like there is a battery elimination jack that was included with my pump. Sorry to be so dense

Interesting topic for me. I had planned on using a shared battery for the pump and ignition for a new plane. There would be an opti ignition module to isolate the battery from the receiver. Pump and ignition module plug into separate channels on the receiver, but use a common switch to kill both. I use this set-up on my existing plane without incident.
In the diagram there are 2 options. Any words of wisdom about this ???

Thanks - J Tab

So, the Opto Module is plugged into Aux 7. The lead from the RX port on the pump goes to another channel on the receiver. You then mix the Aux 7 and the other channel together and assign to one switch? For example, you mix aux 7 with aux 8 and assign them to one switch to operate both the pump and ignition? How do you make the throttle control the pump output volume? Mix the channel that the pump in on, (in this example aux 8) with the throttle channel? Thanks, Dave

As a foot note the manual recommended not putting the ignition and pump on the same switch(why, I don't know). If you use the 2nd Option, you mentioned, it would require a switch as the pump would drain the battery eventually per the manual.

Ltmash,

Just used at Throttle Master and Pump Channel as the slave.
Preliminary settings below - however have not yet installed in plane.

Dave,
ATV usually All Travel Value or the Travel function on your radio.
The settings I listed above were on my DX-18.

J Tab, wouldn't the off-set be at 0%? That way Aux 3 moves on a scale from 0% to 60% when the throttle is move from closed to open? /Dave

It seems, other than questions nearly everything has been addressed with these engines. The last two video's, if they cannot inspire someone to get a Moki powered airplane, well what else can you do. Go to Oshkosh Airventure! That will do it. Watch on youtube Greg Sheltons FM-2 Wildcat flown at Oshkosh 2016....or go get a ride in a Stearman or any other radial powered airplane.

Hello all, Götz Vogelsang here from Moki USA.

Our new sites went online last Friday.
http://www.mokiusa.com

which is a gateway to a world first, our complete Moki parts shop at
http://aeroscale.shop

We try to have everything in stock at all times, both motors, accessories and parts and will of course help anyone and everyone both with parts and service. Service is done here in the USA through our service specialist Julian and myself. My long time friend Julian has become part of the Aeroscale family once I got him into Mokis and identified his unique skills, technical prowess and love for and understanding of miniature engines. As part of the Aeroscale family he now services all of our engines exclusively for and with us.

Please contact us with any of your questions, the fuel pump related ones as well. I brought those to the US market in 2008 and they have become quite popular. I am just about to revise manual version 5 today or tomorrow. I have the programming not only perfectly described by now, I even added transmitter screenshots for the required mixes.

So, please contact us should we be able to assist!
Best regards,

Doc G

Hello Götz,

Thanks for the updates and the information.
When you complete the fuel pump manual and programming options - hope you can post to the forum for ease of accessibility.

Regards - J Tab
