P47-Thunderbolt Black Horse / any reviews?
Dear all
I was looking on the internet at a warbird from Black Horse, a P47-Thunderbolt.
Does anybody know (fly) this airplane and could give me information on how well it is built and how the flight characteristics are?
I found some information on Black Horse models in general, but nothing on the flight caracteristics of the P47 (except for "It's a great plane ;-)).
Any information is highly appreciated!
Cheers
Adriano

I've got this plane and did a short thread on it after reading about one a guy in Englandhad...after seeing that, I had to try her out. It's a great plane, and flys very well...Do a search for Black Horse stall is not bad, good low speed charachteristics, flaps work well, I changed the retracts to air...bashed it to look different as well. check it out.

I just found your thread on the P47. Congratulations! Your Thunderbolt lookes GREAT!
May I ask how you painted it? Did you just spraypaint over the original covering (I think it's Oracover)? If so, what paint did you use?

I stripped off the blue stripes and some of the covering due to shipping damage the plane had when I received it, recovered it in silver, next added dimensional hatches & access doors, then painted her with off the shelf camo-green paint from "home depot", added "major" decals, panel lined it, then panle lines and used a knife to scratch off pait to make her look weathered. Airbrushed some weethering and sealed it with "Top Flite" flat cear coat spray paint. [8D]

I'll post a pic of mine when done :-)
Two last questions
- In the manual I don't have the throws for the landing airbrakes. Could you let me know how you fly your P-47 and if you add elevator to the landing airbrakes.
- The CG is 110mm from the wingtip! I think this is a bit to far back. Where is your CG located?
Thanks a lot for the help!!!!

Manabird,
My CG is at 100mm
My flaps are set so that they will not extend further than about 25 degrees down, 10 or 15 degrees is well more than you need though, but sure to mix in dn elevator with that or she'll baloon quite a bit.
Looking fwd to seeing yours finished !

Hello Klemen NoFlaps
I'm looking to get one of those, seems there are several versions and the one i found in stock its named "v3 version 2016" and it come with pneumatic retracts that i don't like it.
I will like to replace with electric one and if possible mantain the struts, i know its a very old thread but wondering if its possible to know the size of the retracts so i can know in advance if its possible or not to replace those without any modification before ordering the plane.
Best,
Jose
