Definately the corsair. But how can you not like the mustang. And those smooth lines on a Spit gotta be admired. My current project is the P-38, growing more fond of that every day. Been through my 109 stage, still working on a scale canopy for it. Done a ton of research on the 190 and even have rcm plans for it from dave platte, gotta do that one some day. A bombers, love em all. Hell, I havent seen a WW2 plane I havent like yet.

My vote goes for the lowly and often misunderstood B-24. More Liberators were built during the war years than the B-17 but it was the B-17 that got all the press while the B-24 just did its job.
Its' that great looking Davis wing attached to that great box fuselage that makes that plane my favorite warbird.

I, too, like the lesser know warbirds. Been to Bomber Field several times and seen bunches of P-51s and F4U's--and all in the same schemes!!
So:
IAR-80, PZL P-11C, Kawasaki Ki-61/Ki-100, Mitsubishi Seiran, Junkers Ju-88, Martin B-26 Marauder, Fiat CR-42, Savoia Marchetti SM-79, Hawker Typhoon. And my all time favorite, the Douglas C-47!

There is just something about that wing! It's my favourite in MS Combat Sim too. I have a TF Spit (not to be painted with invasion stripes, too many now) to build in the fall. Would love to have flown the real thing. Have to say I am partial to WWII aircraft from Britain and the Canadian variants. A few exceptions are the Catalina PBY5A or in Canada the Canso. They are graceful and still flying in many parts of the world, primarily as waterbombers. Also, a Liberator that Winston Churchill rode around in, in the early years of the war (converted for passengers). Might like to build that one. Something different.
Finally, a Sunderland would be fun to build. Not sure if the Martin Mars was in WWII, but it would be impressive sitting on the water.
As an after-thought has anybody ever tried building the Spruce Goose as a R/C model? Not that I will, but it would be interesting to see one, or pics of one.

Got to be the Corsair, but also love the transports and the laision aircraft. Got a Piper Cub done in Navy NE-1 colors. Can go to warbird fly-ins and weedhop at our club field on them calm late afternoons. Cubfan

Favotite?
I'd have to say the P-47 "Jug", but only because my true favorite, the F8F Bearcat, came into production too late for the WWII action. Had the F8F seen a lot of action against enemy aircraft, I think she would have "kicked butt".

I'm gonna hafta go for the german airplanes in general. The Me-109 looks so sinister just sitting there, it's quite admirable. Ugly as it is...admirable. You look at so many warbirds and you start to think of their "personalities" as well, and begin to admire that also. Based on looks, I'd say a lavochkin, but the me-109 was the mount of the worlds greatest aces, it's the personality of the airplane. It wasn't the fastest, or most maneuvarable by any standards, but it was loved by the greats who flew it, and that's why it appeals to me.
p.s. D-9's RULE!!!

I have to go with the Hawker Sea Fury. Its different looking with that huge wing and is a dream to fly. When high winds come up it makes the wind howl as the wing cuts a path through it and remains stable as a rock!

F6F Hellcat
At our field we have 6 or seven giant scale warbirds that fly every weekend. They do some nice formations and low passes. It's pretty amazing to watch. Sadly - The one bird that is missing from the fleet is the Hellcat.
Currently we have a:
P51-D
F4U
Spitfire ( two of them )
Dc3 (C47?)
Thunderbolt
All of them are at least 80" or bigger.
I hope someone builds a hellcat soon.

ME-262
Without a doubt my favorite would have to be the ME-262. Almost tied for first is the Hellcat, after that it is a toss-up. Best sound I've ever heard was standing right next to the runway at LOT while Vlado Lenoch departed in his P-51D, almost close enough to touch the wingtip as he passed... Had the hair standing up on the back of my neck!!

Paul:
It is the 60 size kit. I had the giant scale kit but sold it to a friend so I could buy the Yellow Aircraft P-47. I looked at the instruction book for the gaint kit and it builds the same as the 60 size, only larger parts. The kit was fairly straight forward to put together, no surprises that I can remember. Are you building the razorback or bubble?

Favorite Warbird: Hmmm... So many great ones it can be hard to single one out, but for me there is one plane that:
exudes high performance,
is slippery in profile (even with a big radial up front),
has graceful semi-elliptical wings,
has no large drag producing stuff (like radiators under wings/fuse), and
never fails to capture my attention... like a beautiful woman
