Thanks Manfred,
I added 2 more pieces to the torpedo. They will be included in the tail fin kit. I could not stand the 2 dowles holding the torpedo on so I looked at some pic's online.
Here is what I came up with. You can cut it out and fill the back with filler if you want. But it hides the dowles well...

I have seriously thought that if this one flyies really well. I might buy a second one and repaint it to that color scheme.
I really like the looks of the Swordfish...

Great work on the cockpit and torpedo adaptor Ty! I ordered the Tail Fin from VQ two days ago. Do you think the new upgrade torpedo hangers will be included in that shipment or will it come later? I am also interested in getting one of the Spun Aluminum Cowls and another Dummy motor insert for my Swordfish. Didn't see either on the VQ or TY's Planes site. How do I go about ordering those parts. I plan on mounting a DLE 55cc and the Spun Cowl would give me some extra room plus it will look great. The me-109 spinner I got from you was quality work and looks really good and I know the Cowl will add something special to the Swordfish. I would also be interested in the 1/7th scale figures you had in some picture posing with the Swordfish. As I recall, you said they were not very thick, but I can work around that if you have any you would like to sell. I thought they looked perfect with the Cockpit kit which IShould get in a few days.Looking forward to your reply on how I can order the mentioned parts. Thanks for the Build Bash and the other videos, they are an outstanding service and very helpful. Tony.

Thanks Tony,
I have not sent the tail fin kits out to Tomas yet. I will be shipping any orders that are made in the next week directly from here. They should go out by Monday.
I wanted to finish the hanger parts before i sent them to Tomas. I will not be able to supply the spun cowls. I was looking into it but they would not be cost effective to produce. I only had 2 responses of interest way back when. I need to order about 10 at a time and I would be look at least 6 weeks out to recieve them.
E-mail me direct about the figures...

Ok Guys,
I am back working on the plane. I Had asked here before and noone said anything. I also combed the manual and could not find anything that said the flying wires are functional. Well after having it all set up. I found that the Flying wires are functional. If they are not used the top wing can move front to back. The wires hold the wing in place. I have decided to keep the outboard wings as one piece. They are easily removed once all setup.

I did spent and extra $20-$30 for the flying wire setup. I perfer to use coated laeder wire. I also bought Sullivan Flying wire Attachment straps. Dubro rigging couplers and a couple packs of Sullivan 4-40 clevices. With the wing all setup and making sure it was square. I started installing the flying wires. With the rigging coupler they are easily tighted.. It took me about 1 hour to get it all setup...

I also was trying to figure out how to drive the alierons with one servo. It just can't be done easily. I did not want the servo wire to stick out at the center of the fuse. So I figured out that I could install the the top servo and run the wire down the outside rear strut. Once i am finished I will pait the servo wire gray. I then y'ed the 2 servos together.

Hi Ty,
Many thanks for all your help and suggestions. I have just finished adding the flying wires as you suggested (It took me longer than an hour!) and I am very satisfied with the results. I am amazed at the rigidity of a set of upper and lower wings. This idea as well as a method of securing the wings span-wise (See my photos of the 6-32 capscrew, from a few days ago) makes a solid set-up.
Should be flying soon!

Bob

I need to do some minor adjsutments before I fly her....iit appears my rudder is off center and one of my aileron servoes is jittery. There is always some delay. How about you, where are you at?

Still have to install my struts. Have them set up with the wood dies but haven't drilled out the bottom holes yet. Had to do some work on the Tee Nuts on the rudder stab, had the same problem as some other guys with them falling out. Was going to put my DL55 on her but decided that was overkill. A Zenoah 38cc was my next choice [since I have one on hand] but it looks like I have to cut more of the cowl than I want to. Ram-bro mentioned his US 40cc fit perfect so I'm going to do some research on that on and where I might get one. Also looking at the Fijji 46cc. Might be able to borrow one from a club member to test fit to see if I have to hack the cowl with that one. Don't know what will give me the best power and still keep her scale look as much as possable. Would love to put a Gas Radial engine in her but my pockets arn't deep enough to do that and buy some more VQ, ESM planes they keep tempting me with LOL! I do know I don't want to use a fuel engine [ to much exsuast mess ] and I don't want to dirty up the torpedo. The torpedo refit I got from Todd looks great on it and the brackets he included with the kit are the perfect touch. Have to order my cockpit kit this week and I am almost thru painting the 3 pilots I got from Todd. He really did a great job and they will really look good in the full cockpit. It took me a while to decide if I wanted to go thru the work of cutting out the servo trays and all that but after watching the videos a few times, I said " what the heck " it will only make her look all the better. Any motor suggestions you guys have that wont require a lot of cowl hacling would be much appreciated. The forum has been a big help and Todd's contributions have made me a big Fan and customer of his. I wish you the best on your maiden flight and would enjoy any video you might post. I will post some pictures soon. Tony.

ispirit, the G38 and us 41 are basically the same motor. I had to cut some holes for the exhaust stacks ( bennett muffler)and that was about it for mods just inside the fuse itself and not the cowl. Like I mentioned earlier, itbalanced perfect with this motor. What are these pilot figures you are referring to? I would love to see them.

Thanks for the info Ram-bro. If you could, I would like to see some pictures of your Swordfish with the motor mounted. I have a Brice Muffler around here someplace LOL! I will dig it up and see what I can work out with the mounting of the Zenoah 38cc. I am going to try to post some pictures of the pilots I got from Todd. Hope I get it right. If not, I will have to try again. I'm still painting the pilots. I think they are 1/7th scale. I took a few shots of some other pilots I was going to use but I didn't want to take the legs off them and they are a larger scale [ 1/6th I think ] and heavyer than Todds. They also came with detachable legs. I just sat them in the cockpits for the photos but they will sit lower when I install Todd's scale cockpit. Good to hear from you. The thread really slowed down and I was enjoying watching the progress of the other guys. Well, I'm going to try to attach the pictures. Hope it works first try. Tony.

Here is a pic of the pilots that I have . I have only made a few. I found this pilot in an estate sale from many year back. I can't find them any where so I made a mold so I could reproduce me a few for use on some of my planes...Here is the pilot Tony is talking about.....

THANKS FOR THE CORRECTION, sorry, I did mean TY. Sorry TY! I don't think he has them in his catalog. I contacted him thru his web site and then caled him. He did a test run for me to see if he could make them thicker. They came out really good and I bought three. They are all the same pose, no gunner but I can work around that. Contact TY on his Web E-mail or give him a call. I also got a spare Dummy Radial ENGINE. It's perfect and I think even stronger than the origional. I'm trying to figure out how to reduce the pictures so I can post them for you guys. I keep getting an error message that the files are to big. I tried to post just a couple but I still get the error. Any suggestions on how to reduce them would be a big help. Thanks, Tony.
