I recently saw one fly at Owatonna with a 85 cc single cylinder, seemed to fly great even in a stiff crosswind...unsure on the weight of the plane.

I have a 1/3 scale DVII and flew at Owatonna, this might just be the one you saw. I used a 3w-75 for power with a Xoar 26-10 prop. My plane came in on the light side at 40 lbs.
I did set the CG about .8" furter aft than the plans call for this saved me adding an additional 2.5lbs. of lead to the nose.
