A-10 and SkyRaider
I am looking for a SkyRaider and a A-10 to build as close to scale as possible. I have never worked off of plans alone even though I have built many air craft. I think I need to work off plans and a Instruction Manual. If anyone knows of a good kit please let me know were I can find one.
Thanks itzbear

RE: A-10 and SkyRaider
Depending on the SIZE of Skyraider you would like to build, I would vote for the Skyshark 60-inch or the Ziroli 100-inch...
No real instructions on the Ziroli. If you want plans, instructions and a cut short-kit, then Skyshark has a pretty nice 60-size, just not as scale...

RE: A-10 and SkyRaider
Skyraiders, uhm, there is the Global 60 size kit, if you can find the "4pie" skyraider, of course the Skyshark skyraider. The a10 your gonna have to either buy a high dollar kit, find a combat models all foam A10 or scratch build and design your own. so why these 2 kits?

RE: A-10 and SkyRaider
I am building a Skyraider from Kellogg plans. It comes with a 12 page instruction manual including a list of things that are needed to complete construction. Construction is all balsa and plywood. The AD5 has a 103” wing span and 80” long fuselage. It has a three piece wing construction so it fits in the car/van. The plane has two piece flaps, dive brake, and bomb releases. I am going to power it with a 3W75iUS. It should weigh around 35-38 pounds. Here is a list of all the accessories, all made by Kellogg Plans for this plane; Fiberglass Cowling; Fiberglass Transition (Behind Cowl); Fiberglass Landing Gear Covers; 150 Gallon Drop Tank Kit; Front Canopy; Rear Canopy; Fiberglass Rear Canopy Frame (Optional For Opening Windows); Mk82 Low Drag 500# Bomb Kit; Construction Photo CD; Vacuum Formed Cockpit Parts and Vacuum Formed Rear Seats. I saw it fly at Delaware...what a sight!
I have been build since January and completed the fuse and tail feathers in about 3 months. And I don't get much time to work on it so I feel the construction is fast and easy. I will start back on it when the colder weather hits! Retracts are available for Serria Presicion. Here is the web site address. Check it out and see the you tube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDGfmvqeP6g) of his plane. http://kelloggplans.com

Hey bear try ziroli he has everything you need to build one good looking A-1H skyraider, with plans & instructions from start to finish, his bird is 100" I built one in 1994,it turned out so fine i took the plans and enlarged them to 1/4 scale ( 150" wing ) Darrel at sierra can make the retracts & the scale tail retract, the one I"m working on will have foldings and dive breaks, geo.

SBD,
I just picked up a Kellogg AD-5 from Charlie. As you stated everything in the box is some of the best workmanship I have ever seen. As for now I am finishing up a couple of projects with a friend. A 1/4 scale scratch Stearman and I need to glass and paint a Topflight P-51 B-Model conversion the same friend framed up for me.
However I have been tempted to put the AD-5 plans on the build table. Here is the AD-5 I am modeling this one after. What about you?
Check out my Warbirds Over Oklahoma fly-in forum. This fly-in is scheduled for May 14 through 16, 2010.
Please go to the top of the page and check it out.

Warbirdrcer,
Glad you are pleased with the Kellogg workmanship. I have seen Charlie's plane fly and it is a real beauty. I have not made up my mind yet. I have posted two photos of swhat I have been looking at. I will take some photo of my build and post them this week. You will be very surprised how easy it has been to build the fuselage. I have some nice photos of the interior.

SBDdauntless,
The aircraft you are modeling yours after, is it a local plane for you?
If not and you need airframe or interior photos let me know. I can take any photos you need here on the one my friend owns.
Looking forward to seeing your photos.

RE: A-10 and SkyRaider
Thanks for the great start to my next project.
I have looked at and asked for more information from Kellagg plans. I think PRECISION CUT KITS also has these kit in a laser format. If so I think this is the way to go. I know I'm better off with plan sheets and instruction manuals. So far only Kellogg offers both with the following add on:
Plans, 4 sheets 34” x 84” with instruction manual - $70*
Fiberglass cowling -$65*
Fiberglass Transition (Behind Cowl) - $50*
Fiberglass Landing Gear Covers - $25*
150 Gallon Drop Tank Kit - $34(each)*
Front Canopy - $30*
Rear Canopy - $25*
Fiberglass rear canopy frame (optional for opening windows) $35*
Mk82 Low drag 500# bomb kit - $28 (each)*
Construction Photo CD - $20*
Vacuum Formed Cockpit parts - $30*
Vacuum Formed Rear Seats - $25*

SDB,
Did you pick up your wood from Kellogg? did you have the plan cut? Is this a project you will cut? I have only built kits ordered from a hobby store and scratch built from those types of plans. So some of this is real new to me and some what scary.

RE: A-10 and SkyRaider
Itzbear,
Don't be afraid, take the leap! I did get my kit for Kellogg Plans. First class job on the cutting. Since he builds his designs he also corrects the plans. So, I would be careful in buying from someone else who may have older plans and the parts have trouble fitting. I would go with the Kellogg Plans cut....again it was packed perfect and the cut first class.
