Hi everyone! After having this bird in a box for YEARS now I am FINALLY building her. I got my Retracts installed , went with Century Jet, and I have a DLE55 rear exhaust.
So I ended up cutting down the stock Motor box so I could keep my engine carb. fully exposed and not have to deal with cutting standoffs. Now I am trying to line up my motor box onto the front of the zero's fuse BUT the fuse has no hash marks like I've seen in other build pics and I believe the build diagram says that there should be. !!! I do have hash marks on my motor box..just not the fuse?
So I found this program /tool http://www.gsal.org/
to figure out engine offset or ...how much to the left I should move the center of my engine/motor box, to compensate for the 2 degrees of thrust angle build into the box mount. I am wondering about what to measure for my engine length input?? The DLE55RA engine itself is 171mm with standoffs...and I cut the motor box down to be about 32mm.,give or take a mm or 3. So my actual measurements are very close to the diagrams given 203mm for the distance from the firewall to the front of the cowl . Going with 203mm (8inches) engine length, with 2 deg thrust angle, I get an output number of about 7mm (0.28inch) in which to shift the vertical center line. Does this sound about right? Am I doing this right? This is the first time I've had to worry about thrust angels....
Oh and can someone confirm as far as 2 degrees right thrust... in respect to the fuse, I want to mount the motor box so the built in angle is to the right (the motor is angled to the right when sitting in the cockpit)....and I want to shift the vertical center point for the box itself to the LEFT. (looking out of the cockpit) CORRECT??

Oh man ! that's awsome.
Had an accident 'bout a year ago.
I was ready for another flight, groundchecks and preflight done and I pushed the throttle all the way.
Unfortunately my head wasn't with me and as it picked up speed I guess I took off prematurely and to make the story short the plane hit one of the poles on our safetynet. I would like to mention the prop took a considerably chunk out of the pole!
Unfortunately the wing got a hit form the pole in return. Just infront of the wheel well. Rest is history.
Anyway.. picked up all pieces of the wreckage and meditated for a couple of days..The speed at impact was really low, ( tip stall speed ) so the fuse was mostly ok, the cowl was just knocked off, but the canopy got some cracks..
I decided to rebuild the wing and all.. with panel lines and rivets..
It was good help ( at least i thinks so,) to glue most parts together to get panels other parts for supporting the ones that had to be remade.. I remade almost all. even the main spar. After the buidling was done I used the glued toghether wing-skins for samles for the panel-line and paint-job.. they served me good. It was a lot easier doning this in small scale, as this is my first riveting job. I think I came out not so bad..

And just to make it a tiny bit more scale I've started with scale exhaust..
Starting with two exis.. I have a plan of making a whole ring.. and this is a proof of consept before I take it further..
The first silicone tube tore apart.. I guess it could not take the not continous pressure and heat. Have made another attempt. not so much angles on this tmie .. and also aluminum tape to stop it form sucing togheter every other stroke..
But there's still the challenge of the canopy..
So if any of you guys have a good tip for making a new one or where to buy ( or if anyone got a spare) I'd be happy.

Hi guys ! My activity kinda stopped where I left you off..
I did a re-maiden on the new wing early in September. The wing flew flawlessly :-D
Due to no cowling ( the exhaust mentioned i the posts above did not work exactly to plan - so I have to take it off and re-do it at some point ) I did only a few rounds and passes, but had to land before the front got light.
I also got a new canopy which I considered crusial to get this bird fully operative again.

They also got canopy for 91" Zero.
Havent fitted it yet, but will do in due time for next season. :-)
