Thanks for the compliments guys. Yes I had one before this zero. It flew so well that when I had mechanical issues and it crashed, I had to get another one because it flies so good. And very happy the way it turned out. Haven't had a chance to maided it yet. Have just a very few minor things to do before it's ready to start running the engine and shaking it down.

Hi guys, I wanted to balance my Zero, but the sheeting on top of the wing is too soft and I don´t want to make holes in the wing. Does anybody able to show me what is the best was to do it? Thanks
#356
If you are using a balancing device ,tape plywoid to the wing where the balancer pads will make contact with the wing . If you are balancing using your finger tips, tape the plywood in place on the wing where your cg would be marked and transfer the marks to the plywood and balance as usual

Hi ! Update from Norway.
I finally made my A6 airworthy last weekend.
Had not decided if it was going to be only ground testing, or both ground test and maiden flight, so I did some good tests on the ground back and forth our airfield.
It turned out to track good, and the rudder and tail wheel response was good.
Then I decided to go all in. I lined up, held good elevator and a bit of rudder to make sure it tracked straight.. I pushed the throttle.. and it took into the air after approx 30 meters...
Had to to a lot of elevator downtrim.. apart from that it behaved very good.
Next activities will be to add a better switch panel, and detailing. Undercarrige doors are also in the making,

jornmarius , Congratulations on the successful maiden flight . It is not unusual to need to add elevator down trim on this model or for most warbirds in general. please give us more pics of the detailing when you are finished

excited to announce I finally got the plane running and did it's first shakedown yesterday. Burned a half a tank of gas through it. She runs really strong even for only running for just a few minutes out of the box. The scale exhaust works out really nice, it's throws a nice even splatter of oil on both sides :-) it's got a Zore 24x12 on it. I didn't Tack it yet but the engine temperatures were idling for a couple minutes about 212° and running up temperatures were in the 185° range. So my cooling seems to be working

Hi guys !
Time for an update :-)
I might have mentioned I was going to add CDI.
It came out very well.
It is standard RCexcell ignition-kit but I also got sensor bearer and a ring with the ignition magnet from Morris minimotors.
Yesterday I also stared installing the powerswitch panel in the fuselage..

Here's the panel..
It's made from components from HK. OK quality, though I'm considering shortening some of the cables
Then I started the nerve wrecking work of cutting the fuselage..don't want to mess it up ;-)
Uses dremel with a diamond cutting wheel to do the hatch..
then added a pair of stips from ply to secure the hatch opening so the hatch wont fall inside the fuse... the hinges are glued with foaming PU glue.
Unfortuantely some paint got stuck to the masking tape.. on the other hand that makes quite a good weathering effect ..
And .. almost forgot..
I added an optical killswitch for the egnition..
Seems like a good idea after a "misfire" while doing testing of the wireing of the ignition.. ( forgot to take out the plug while i had the ignition on and turned the propeller.. was not aware I had fuel in the chamber ;-) )

Well a quick update. Had to do some minor repairs after the first shakedown. My spark plug ring on my static engine fell apart due to all the vibrations. so I had to make a new one. I finally got my matchboxes to finish all the control surfaces. Now I just need to try and figure out how to make them work the way I want them to. Other than that the plane is ready to maiden as soon as I get my AMA renewed.

Hmm.. I can't access that webshop.. I only get European or Global warehouse. :-(
I'm in need of a new canopy.. :-) .. The original is not noseover proof ;-)
So If anyone got any clue where I can get one, a tip would be much appreciated.

The problem is that your hard earned effort and top gun scale talent ( no joke ) has a disconnect with the common RC guy.
Persoanlly I get it because I bash many of my ARFs , never at the scale level as you but I still bash them.
I have sold a few a great margin but all relavant to the market and work ect.
Example ---I bought a Hanger 9 Corsair ( original 66" version 7 /8 years ago. Added sliding canopy, full scratch built interior, many mods , retracts, panel lines , weathering ect .
The kit + Retracts + Os 91 4 stroke =$850 just in those parts , if I added labor and scale equity I would be at $1500.
Now ask yourself --the common RC guy says ---what can I get for $1500 in an arf . Well I am sure you will see my simple 90 size plane will get blown away by others items in the market .
So use the same logic , remove personal feelings and personal labor , take all the parts purchased and see how close you get to the $5000 asking price .
Remember , this is from a guy that has nothing but respect for your work but I am business man in the consumer product segment at the VP level, and when we tie emotional investment into a product we never get a return on our investment.
Its the same thing I tell guys that spend $200 on a Glenis Scale wheel , you have to really want a wheel that cost $200 or you will never see the value or scale equity in that cost on your ROI .
So lets look at the zero and say forget the scale add ons, can I get a better quality (stocke) zero ARF right now from Top Flight , new gas engine , retracts, simple interior kit , bluebox pilot , for ????? $2000 ??? I would say yes , and that is what you competeing with at $5000.
Please dont take offence to this , I am doing the math, your almost 2.5 time higher for scale equity vs current market kits in the same size.
Thats a big jump , you might be better suited in the 3500, range or so ,
I am not saying your plane is not worth $10,000 to someone that really wants a scale zero , I am just making a comparison to market value , again please please do not take offence .

I understand where you're coming from. I probably have close to 3000 into the bird. The rest I would fairly say would be labor. But that out of the box top flight zero is not going to have all the bells and whistles that my bird has. Accurate scale for peace landing gear functional Cowell flaps, A four layer paint job, Front nose machine gun ports are accurate and go all the way through. So someone can install the German made shooting machine guns that throws Sparks. A second to none static Radial Engine :-)

You dont have to convince me, I see this plane as a Top Gun contender !
I would also tell you to contact museums, aircraft type bars, ( the one near LAX) and so on .
I sold a Top Flight Red Box P40 , totally dressed up with scale details for $850 ( not the gold edition but the red box ) on ebay.
A bar owner bought it to hang up !!

Yes , you need to first take pics and have some fun go visit the antique and speciality dealers useally seen at open markets, antique dealers, pickers ect.
Also antique/collectable shops .
In sounthern Cal there are many and there are a few WW2 Galerys in LaHoya ( spell check ) that sell ww2 coolectables, right on the main beach drag .
Google bar distriburs, these are guys that sell chairs and bar decorations. Dont know how close you are to LAX, but there is a old time plane resterrant 5 mins from Lax with WW2 planes ect.
Also check with the Smithsonian they buy models at top dollar if they are true to scale, there is also a P40 musium in Boise Idaho, you cant go wrong to check with them. Also Japanese consulate to US, they have reginal embaseys , all potential customers .
Last --EBAY, not my favorite but its depends on how you list the ad as "collectable " real to scale Japanese Zero
