Very nice. Is that a scale pilot?!!?
The pilot is not exactly scale but he makes it go faster. At least that's what Robert told me!!!

Hi Chad,
Not much happening on the thread. Thought I would give it a bump. How has the progress been on the prototype? Anything new to post? Iwill starting mine this fall. Will post progress here if you like. Was wondering if a full cockpit kit had been developed.

Hi Larry,

Sorry for my lack of progress as of late. I'm chomping at the bit to get back to work on both of my Hellcats. I recently moved which put a real kink in the schedule and has also resulted in me not having a ready place to do any work at home. I share a model shop with my brother and father and do most of my work there but I also had a small work space at home up until I moved.

I also have to admit to taking a break from the Hellcat in order to finish up my T-6 Texan. After the death of my TF P-40 I was all out of warbirds and the T-6 was so close to being finished I decided to wrap it up for our upcoming flying season. I should be back to work on the Hellcat projects in the next couple of weeks. If all goes as planned I hope to have the prototype painted, if not completely finished, for our One Eighth Air Force event in late October.

No progress on the full cockpit but most of the tooling necessary to produce it has already been made. I just need to clean it up in some areas and incorporate some minor changes.

I would love to see your build pictures posted to the thread once you get started. The more the merrier!

Well, the T-6 is pretty much wrapped up. I hope to test fly in the next week or two. That means that you should start seeing regular updates on the Hellcat again very soon. I have been chomping at the bit to get back to it but I was determined to get the T-6 done. It feels good to have it ready to go after four years!

Chad,
That is truely one sharp AT6. It is no wonderyou wanted tocomplete it before working on the F6F.

On another note. Is it possibe to obtain from youstrips ofthe lazer cut pinking tape used on fabric covered control surfaces. I have several projects it would add a nice touch to.

The T-6 is an old Midwest kit which is, unfortunately, no longer available. Too bad as it really is a nice design and a good size. (84 inches)

Hi Charles and thanks for the kudos. All my pictures are hosted on Photobucket (which is free by the way) and then I just image link them to RCU. This is a much better solution in my opinion than uploading directly to RCU. If the standard image upload here is not working for you I can only guess that it may be because your images are too large but that's just a guess on my part. I don't think I have ever personally uploaded a photo directly to this site so I'm probably not the right guy to ask!

I was finally able to catch up with Robert and the "Super Hellcat" for some pictures of the finished airplane. Looks great and I look forward to seeing it racing. Anybody else out there making any progress? I'd love to see some more Hellcats up and flying! I will be working on mine this week so stay tuned...

I am to the painting stage on my peashooter. When it is finished I will be moving on to the Hellcat. I have not even opened the box you sent with it in it yet but I did get the rib stiching tape last week. Thanks Chad they look great and will serve nicely.

Any progress on the full cockpit?

Larry

Larry, I'm getting ready to start framing up the fuselage for Hellcat #2 which will have the full cockpit installed. As soon as I get my fuse far enough along to install the cockpit I will work to get the kit finished. It's going to be a little while yet but I will get it done and available.

Joe, thanks for the great pictures as usual.

Hi raptureboy, thanks for checking in. I'm still putting rivets on the fuselage so there is not much visual progress to post pictures of. As soon as I get the fuselage riveted I will shoot a base color of paint on it and then post some pics of the assembled airplane. I've got a couple of other contract design jobs which have slowed the Hellcat progress but I am working on it at least a couple of evenings each week. Stay tuned...

I have opened up my Kit and started inventory and planningfor my build. I have not finished my Peashooter yet but am to the painting stage. It is in base coat ready for panel lines then all those rivits.

So Chad we may just be doing one at about the same time if you are still planning on doing a second.

Sharpeye, I have the wing to my second Hellcat about 95% finished (this one has the flaps) and I've also got a second vertical fin and rudder finished. Hope to start the fuselage soon so I can work with Tighe to finish the full cockpit kit. I look forward to building along with you as well as seeing pics of your finished Peashooter. I had opportunity to see a full size Peashooter fly at the Planes of Fame airshow in California about 4-5 years ago and it was really fantastic. Quite possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity.

By the way who is **** *******? Is he the A-hole that constantly makes physical threats to chad. The Guy how did all the cool stuff in the company hellcats?

This is a cool thread about the RCFW Hellcat..........

Let's keep it on topic. And keep in mind that whenever you identify anyone directly in a post, that post is way off topic from that sentence on. RCU's rules directly ask that we stay on topic and we don't "curse, flame, degrade, insult or embarrass someone".
