Very nice job. I had mine out a week ago and just love the way it flies. A friend took a couple shots that I thought I would share. Look forward to yours getting air under the tires.

Thanks guys my lab was a great dog
Frenchie: that is a great shot of your Corsair I can't Waite to get mine in the air, although I would love to just be painting at this point
the details are becoming drawn out, but I am having fun with the results.
Thanks for all the compliments

Tracey first off I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your Lab, they do become apart of the family and when the time comes to put them down its very hard, I am sorry for your loss.
Now on we go with our builds. Today I finished installing the remaining air lines for the retract system and the remaining parts of the radio system. Well everything has finally come together and the entire system works to include the sequenced gear door system and the retracts. Here are some more pics.

Brad,
Your Corsair looks great! What a quality job. Again I can not thank you as well as all of the other members out there for the great info and pictures of the builds. If I could, I would like to ask a few more questions.
1. I see your engine mount is not one of the vibration dampening types. Are you at all concerned about the vibrations from the 120 FS and any of the systems (servos, RX, Air Valves)?
2. Will you use a remote glow plug igniter for low RMP running? If so what type?
3. What Weight do you think your plane will come in at?
Thank you again for all the info to date.
Bill.....

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the comment, I do enjoy building them and then flying them, let's get down to answering your questions;
1. I'm not at all worried about vibration, since four stroke engines have less vibration then a two stroke engine. Now, any modeler can use a vibration dampening engine mount, that's up to the builder IMHO. True, some 72 Mhz radio systems because some builder have run into frequency problems associated from long leads from your servo to the RX; I'm flying a digital system, Spread Spektrum 2.4 Ghz w/7 channels, there's no radio interfierence.
2. At this point in time I'm not going to run a gloe driver, but I may if I can't get my idol RPM down to 2K RPM range. The best gloe driver I have found on the market today is from this website http://www.sonictronics.com/xcart/home.php?cat=285 I have two sets and they work great!
3. For the TFGE Corsair the weight range should be around 9.5 to 10.5 pounds, but I have seen some birds come in at 11 to 13 pounds.
Bill if you have any further questions please feel free to ask, I'm glad I was able to assist you.

Hi frenchi79,
Your Corsair looks great, I'm glad you were able to put in atleast 8-9 flights this season with her. As for landing speed Corsairs need to have alittle more speed going into the final turn, keep the nose pointed at the end of the runway. Keep your power slightly up w/full flaps on final, then three to five feet before touch down chop your power to idle and bring her in on the mains as you have done already. Thanks for the heads up for deadstick landings with the Corsair.
By the way frenchi, where's your pilot?

Gents,
Received my pilot in the mail yesterday so I have been working on thhe finishing touches. I got my guy into his seat and strapped in for his initial flight some time next month. Here are a few more pics of my progress towards the finish line.
Hey Frenchi, my guy is determined to ride it to the end, LOL, only if it comes to an abrupt end.

RE: TFGE F4U Corsair 60 Kit Build
well just a quick report I have all the panel lines and 80% of the rivets complete now to finish up this week and Prime this weekend
after that it is sand and paint the COLOR woohoo that should be very rewarding after a long build lets see I started in February
although I have been flying alot this summer and also building a TF giant P-51D I hope to finish it for the spring 2011 then on to the next build I have plans and most of the wood for a ME109 that will be my first build from plans only no kit for that one
Bradley i like your pilot but maybe its just me it look tinny in the cockpit? I have seen the same thing with other pilots.
pictuers soon I hope

Tracey,
Looking good my friend, you'll be painting before too long and completing the final touches, can you see the light at the end of the tunnel?
As for my pilot, he does seem to be sitting a tad bit low, what I should have done put a parachute pack under his can to bring him up a little bit more. I didn't think about that until after the canopy was glued on and reading your comment. I'm finally getting the final touches done on my super moded, semi-scale Corsair.
Tracey, keep the press on, your bird is looking awesome and will be even better when she's dressed out in color.

Gents,
Know that my bird is virtually done, I'm waiting for warmer weather to take her out for the maiden flight. SoMD has seen some of it's coldest weather so far this year with snow twice in December which is unheard of. When I finally do get back out to the flying field the maiden will be flown without the pylons and drops the second flight I'll add those items which will add minimal weight at the CG. I do hope all had a Very Merry Christmas with Santa bringing everybody a new bird for the up coming flying season and I would also like to say Happy New Year to all; may 2011 find all without a job gainfully employed and good fourtune to all.
By the way Tracy keep up the good work on your Corsair and post some more pics when you get the chance. I would love to see more pics of your 1/5 scale Mustang.

Hi John,
You will find quite a few accomplished builders on RCU and the various threads. I tend to welcome any one who wants to contribute from their build and if you get stuck, please feel free to ask questions. If you have had a chance to read through this thread then you already know my retracts are serria, the key to prevent a serria gear from binding/jaming, always ensure your mount blocks are square. Always have either 5 ply modelers plywood or a flat piece of basswood cut to the size of your gear, the reason you can place the wood on your mounting blocks to determine if they are square or not. Before putting any screw/bolt into your gear always ensure the mount is true, a twisted mount will cause your gear to either stick or not function at all. Welcome to this build thread, I tend to maiden my Corsair in a few weeks and then mount my pylons and test my bombs and drop tanks. An oh by the way, please post some pictures of your build, we all would realy appreciate it.
