You get the pilot off these fellows, you can customize your own & they will make it for you.

I have brought from both great service & great products.

Thanks Tod J. and psjdbf for the reply.. [8D]
I'm gathering parts to try to scale - out a 1/5th scale T.F. P-51 Mustang. I am also working on a parts list // Build for a !/5th scale P-82 Twin Mustang..
The reason for the thread is to find out what is available ...
Thanks again,
Mark K.
I'm doing the Dynamic Balsa cockpit, like I did on the first one. The problem with most of the pre made pilots out there (like the ones shown it the sites above) is there 1/6 scale. I have a shelf full of the dragon and blue box pilots I got off E-Bay and they look too small in the cockpit. It's a shame because there great looking.
This time I'm trying something different I'm making a full body useing the Ace's of Iron bust and a Vaily Aviation full body and putting them together to make one... The Ace's of Iron Bust just looks great..
I practiced with a 1/8 scale for my top flight P-47 ARF it came out pretty cool. So now I'll take even more time on the bigger one..
scroll down and you will see one done like I'm going to do:

I added a picture of the 1/8 scale practice pilot for my top flight P-47 arf and a pic of the cockpit I did a couple years back on my Top Flight 1/5 P-51... you can see the pilot looks small..
I made it appear a little better by sitting him up high in the cockpit .. but it still bugged me that he looked small
Best regards
John

I couldn’t find a pilot I liked for my TopFlite Mustang either, so I made my own. The figure is very accurate with the Polaroid Flight Goggles, A-11 flight helmet, etc. He is full-body down to his knees, (feet are rarely seen in fighters). It is a likeness of a good friend of mine who flew fighters in WWII (see black & white photo below of him in 1944). He lent me a lot of reference, so I had to make it good!
I am currently making the molds and should be able to start casting copies in the next week or so.
What do you think?
I am planning to sell these, I just need to see how much resin will be used and how time-consuming the casting process is. Then I will be able to determine a price.
The head is cast separately from the body, so it will be positionable. The figure will be hollow-cast in resin which will make it light and durable. I sculpted this figure as accurate as possible from the portrait of an actual WWII pilot, all the way down to the texture of the flight jacket and control stick.
What price would you guys think is reasonable? Unpainted and painted?
Below are the detail shots of the head sculpt.
painted is harder to say.. how well there done a guess. Anywhere from $70 to $100 +
there is not a lot of options for good looking pilots in this size
your not going to sells tons as the market is small and the economy is hurting
but you have to cover your tooling and some of your time
Ron
Thanks for tuning in ...
Merry Christmas To All !!!!!!!!!!

Mark K,
I think most full cockpit kits have control sticks, and I think at least for me it may cause a problem with installation and Id have to remove the one from his hand..either way I think it looks great, and would certainly pick one up when they are available..
I think you could probably get 40-50 for unpainted and almost double for painted..or more depending on the quality of the paint work..
Looks great..
