Thanks for the info, worked like a charm.
Probably should have read the caption for glassing the doors more closely.
Got some heavy cloth from the auto parts store (they don't list the weight )
Stiffened it up and once the pieces are cut it should be stiff enough to hold without twisting

Larry - I'm also going to follow Boyd's idea for using boat fiberglass to make our glass parts. West Marine is within 15 minutes away. Larry, that part looks good and solid. Chic

Just checked, 3 west marines here, closest is 13+ miles, not too many places to boat here in the valley if the sun. Unlike Long Island where it seemed like there was a store every mile

OK Larry - Valley of The Sun. I get it, I know the underlying story is - it is soooo warm there, that water tends to evaporate to quickly to do alot of boating. Rascal, but I got something for you. It is 52 degrees here on the east coast right now at 10:00 am. Suppose to be in the 50's all week. There - take that. Ha, Ha. Your build is moving right along brother. Chic

If you get a chance google Lake Pleasant, AZ huge lake an hour from me with, get this...A Marina for boats, though you need to refinance you home to pay for the dockage

Too funny my brother. My Navy buddy has a bass boat he paid over 50K for and you can not even sleep in it. I'm still scratching my head about that. I love fishing on the boat - don't get me wrong. But boats are like holes in the water that you pour money down into. Ha, Ha. But - we all wish we had one for sure. Keep building. Chic

Hey guys,
Here are a few shots of the gear doors attached to the wing. Need to do a bit of filling between the doors and the wing sheeting.
Tomorrow I will attempt to cut them into the 3 pieces needed for actual operation, Chic kinda feeling like you and the bomb bay doors
I don't know if it's because this is a solo build but the Avenger seemed easier

Chic, as much as I love the scheme I'm going with the Marine Corp scheme since all the Trojans I see are done in white and red Navy scheme.
Even though I was a swabby I just can't see being part of a gaggle of white Trojans at the field.
I am hoping to cut the doors today or at attempt the first one

Larry here is an active Marine scheme that isn't all white/red. I also looked around a lot for a scheme that wasn't white/red. Check these two websites out.

Nice Scheme Larry - should look good in the air. Boyd is awesome, I hope he steps in my build when he deems necessary - smile. Cleaned up my construction Boo-Boo this morning. Now waiting for some parts to arrive before I tackle connecting the torque arms to the panels. Both sides of the bomb bay door are partially hinged to the fuse. I know those panels will be removed for simulating the interior plating (holes/braces) that are a part of the interior of the bomb bay doors.

Noah, did you have a pattern you used, or photos, or just good eyes as seen from the plastic model? Awaiting for more screws to arrive, can't find the package (100) of screws I had lined up once I read Noah's post on the #1x1/4 pan head screws. Also waiting for another air cylinder to arrive since I can't find the second out of the two air cylinders I had set aside to operate the doors. Larry - another memory lapse. O' well, gives me time to clean up the bomb bay area interior. Temporary installation of the door panels shows considerable overlap, glad to see that however, need to assure the folding doors follow the curvature of the fuse. Will work that out in time I guess. Thanks my brothers for standing by me. Chic

Just so you don't feel alone when John and I were building ours we spent an inordinate amount of time looking for screws, wood, air cylinders and servo extensions just to mention a few.
We probably spent at least 1/2 hour per build night looking for S*&t so we could continue the build.
So you know, when the new air cylinder arrives and you take the box out to the shop to open it, lo and behold you will find the one you lost as well as the screws among other things you forgot were there.
John must have made at least 10 trips to the hardware store for screws and bolts that we couldn't find, alas when we cleaned up the shop for me to pack for the move guess what.... I have a ton of screws and bolts that I don't need for the Trojan
The hardest part we found about installing the air cylinders was adjusting the air valve to the servo to get the right throw.

I learned my lesson from boats back when the kids where little. We went boating every month with some freinds that had not only a boat but a place to stay at one of the lake here in OK. Although I have fond memories, I would not like the hastles of a boat today. Bedsides they can be expensive.

The T-28 is looking good. I know what you mean about a different paint scheme.

Hey guys
So here's a shot of the 1st door cut into the 3 pieces. As I am too poor (read wife has me on a tight $$ leash) I don't have a band saw or scroll saw so I needed to cut the door with a Dremel cutoff wheel. After destroying 4 wheels I finally got the door cut, shocked at how straight it came out. Can't believe how far the pieces fly when they shatter.
Today I will cut the 2nd door and start fitting and attaching the doors to the gear, Boyd any hints in the middle and lower door pieces?

I have a band saw which works well for cutting these types of pieces, especially since they are hard to cut to begin with. I know what you mean about the cut-off tool. I've had my share of flying debris also. Safety goggles are a must.

The only other suggestion for cutting them would be with a razor saw. Just be patient it takes awhile. I pity you using this method. I think I'd stick to the cut-off tool, just do it slowly.

Dremel makes two sizes of diamond cut off wheels, work great and last forever. I use them to cut G-10 and see no evidence of them wearing out or dulling.

I know what you mean about wearing out Dremel cut off wheels. Cutting those brass plates to mount the torque rods caused me a trip to the local hardware store for additional wheels. Will check out Pkoury's ideal of diamond cut off wheels. Between you and Noah, I am still going to school off of your builds - 1st Avenger, 2nd T-28.

Soooooo either you, Noah, Boyd, Peter or someone following the T-28 or the TBM Avenger builds needs to work in a Grumman XF5F-2 Skyrocket build. That is #3 in my build que. Smile. Chic

Hey guys,
Thanks for the input, PK the reason I didn't use the diamond wheel was that I wanted the least amount of space from the depth of the wheel. I think I only lost 3/64th overall even with the hassle.

Boyd, quick question, how did you figure the position of the metal attach point to the middle door, scratching my head and can't seem to figure it out
