I ordered the kit (P51B) from Troy Built Models in FL I should have it Thursday when I arrive home from work. They do not sell pneumatic retracts anymore so I am looking for a source. Does anyone know who has a direct fit

Sierra Giant has the best looking retracts I have seen. I have CJ's in aP-47, Robarts in a TF Mustang and the Sierra Giant in this model. You can order them directly from Sierra or VQ warbirds. Don't think there are listed on the Sierra web page, but if you call, just ask for the ESM P-51 retracts. They also have some very nice wheels!

My P51B will be in tomorrow. Ihave the oppturtunity to purchase ESM pneumatic retracts fora fair price (new) are they reasonably OK?
Also I was thinking of putting in a DLE-30 for the power plant, alot of individuals on this thread seem to be using 26 CC enginesdoes that combination provide enough power? Ilike to let her rip in the air so Ienjoy extra power, so Iguess my real question is the 30cc power plantover kill?

I really can't speak to the ESM retracts. They are inexpensive and I have only read about them in the threads. I have read thighten everything up and us thread locker and they seem to be OK.
ANYONE??
I have the DLE 30 with the keleo scale exshaust, however with work and other projects I have yet to madien her yet. I have done a few engine runs, sounds awesome and will have power to spare.

I don't know if this thread will ever come alive again. Anyway, I'm just finishing my P-51B. Had already a good experience with the D version, so I just took over the CoG and other parameters.
This one is powered with a DLE 35RA, has a scale cockpit and improved canopy from VQ Warbirds.

Put your CG at 125mm from the front of the wing and you'll be fine.

G'day Hoss,
maybe I like mine a bit on the nose heavy side, my B model is at about 110 to 115 from the flat bit where the wings join, didnt need any lead, just moved the Batteries up forward a bit more. it will fly with a little bit of down elevator, and it wont need very much elevator throw, I only use 10 to 15mm max.

My only question is ....Is the cg the same on the B model as on the D model.
I would think they should be the same.

no idea, re the same C of G for the B and D models, but I would be surprised if they use a different wing on the kits, just change the top of the fuselage and colour scheme,
C of G and surface throws are a personal thing, some like their models twitchy, I like mine to be smooth, my feelings are a model on the nose heavy side will fly, it might be what I call doughy, but it will fly, I have been caught out a few times test flying a tail heavy model, it can be VERY interesting, not good for the heart rate.
