Default Lado retract solution

I was just at my LHS picking up my new Hitec 2.4 module. While I was browsing I spotted this set of retracts made by E-flite. Now I know these are small and designed for .15 sized aircraft, but the fact is that this type of design is highly desireable and hopefully something like this will be seen by a major, reputable brand that has the capital to honestly bring it to the market when it is available and can be properly distributed. (which we all know has not happened yet)
It made me feel good to see these as it could be a great solution for our warbirds in the future.

HI All,

I was at the AMA convention at Ontario today and spoke briefly with John Redman from E-Flite concerning their electric retracts. He said that the 60 size units will be from "Machined Aluminum" target price is around $190.00 and hoped for availability in April! Maybe worth waiting for, at least for me.

This was posted from the other thread. It may take time, but it is in their interest to go bigger with these. I sent them a question at the website to see if they would. I would really like something to handle a 20+ lb. aircraft.

Did you happen to ask about rotators for our P40's, Corsairs, etc?

VG , they posted videos on the gear some time back and it was reported on the main lado post . I do think they will be the first to market but there is another player also far along with larger sets and you have to figure if Doug has a something tangable to buy , then we could have three players in this business .

Competition is good. I am waiting to have a good 90 degree unit for my Mig 3 to come along. Meanwhile I will leave my gear fixed. I just want something that can handle 20lbs.

ya got to wonder if these are the designs from Doug, he has said he was working on selling to a larger company to retail.

since he was producing machined alum.gear it would make sense if they picked up the gear from him,it would be nice to hear from Doug if these were his work/designs, it would make getting parts easyer, the guy just has information break down.

if I were selling a idea and the deal wasn't sealed, I would be tight lipped about it until it was a done deal really just speculating.

These smaller Eflite units look like a totally original design. This whole idea seems like it should have been created a long time ago. It is just so practical and clean. Now that modelers have had a taste of it, there should be enough market pressure for a good design to appear. Good retracts are in such high demand now, so I am optimistic that we will see good products within a year or so. hopefully sooner.

wouldn't exactly call it origonal just a standard retract body with a electric motor to replace the air cylinder,.

these look promising http://www.bobsworkshop.co.uk/outdoo...rless-retracts expected release date of 2-10 for larger models the basic idea is pretty well set for retracts, this is a definate area where I would expect several Mfg to get going with new products, the real test will be wich ones have durrability over time, and the cheap copies that fall apart.

One thing I think would be nice would be to have the angle adjustable. So a 90 degree could actually be adjusted to 85 etc.

The other thing they need to have is a version that will accept oleos directly into the retract without wires and set screws between the retract and the oleos. More scale and a lot less hassle.

The electric retract is not a new idea. I believe Kraft used to make a set. Someone out here may know what I'm talking about.

It really is not about being new, it is about having a viable product available. And certainly for large aircraft. It would just be nice to mount the gear and plug it into your radio, then be able to adjust sequencing and such for scale realism. It may not be new, but i believe it is the best. It just needs to be perfected and brought to market.

Steve,

Yes, I had a set of the Krafts. Actually pointless now because there's no service/parts. I'm waiting for a good electric retract actuator/gear, as many are.

US185,

OK? I give up. Where do we get them? Source? Photos?

Cheapest electric retracts yet (for smaller planes but still....)... $29.99 a pr! (+ s/h from China)

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11301

You can not even buy mechnical retracts (without servo of course) for this price! A friend got a pair and love them! Decent reviews too! Just imagine what they will come out with in the near future!

The other LADO site, Magnum RC, is now saying,
"This product will be in stock on Monday 05 July, 2010."
under all the LADO sets I happened to look at.

The official LADO website goes to an invalid page when an individual product is clicked, which is new for them. (Those people really present the same picture every time, bless their hearts.)
