I have landed my ESM Hurricane 30-40 times and it does not show any tendency to stall. When using flaps, keep some power on till ready to touch. It slows down very quickly with no power and flaps Your plane is worth repairing as it is a different plane ad flies easily. Hope you find the cause. I had to rebuild the wing center section when a receiver power switch went bad right after takeoff. Many flights since! Powered with Moki 2.10

I've had that happen in the past also. It will never happen to me again...I found the secret!

Yep. Two switches and two batteries. Each side is independent of the other and a failure on one side doesn't kill power to the Rx.

I'm using one of those Emcotec DPSI micro switches; dual batteries, voltage regulation and magnetic on/off with no moving parts.

ESM - Hurricane crash update - I've got the firewall doubled up with 1/4 ply, and glued back in and glass cloth re-enforced around the perimeter, fuselage cracks and crush zones glassed, I ran the DLE 35cc this morning (it runs fine) and last night I cleaned up the Sierra retracts, and they worked ok, so the major bits survived the crash. I'll get the rest (wing leading edge and front ribs put back together over the winter and fly it next as a "field salvaged" model! I used 6 ounce cloth and 30 minute epoxy, since most of the glassing is ahead of the c of g, so I'll have to hog some lead out of the cowl when it comes time to re balance for the c of g. cheers - ken

I have had mine for 4 seasons now with Saito fg 30. I've added quite a lot of lead and she do fly ok, nothing more. Still extremely pitchy at high speeds but og at slower speeds.

I do prefer wheel landings

G'day Terry ....
The engine I have fitted is the DLE 35 ra.
I will have to machine up a backplate for the spinner to close the gap on the cowling.
Would rather do this than move the engine back !!

How did you attach the back plate ? Is it with 4 screws or super glued or what have you ? I bought the DLE35ra also and was fearing might have to cut the firewall.
Did you also do any beefing up of the spar ? I read somewhere someone felt the spar was inadequate and did some beefing to it.
I have sanded off the markings of my Hurri and am going to use my own desired markings. I am building a Replica Hurricane that I can get in and fly myself and want to use the same markings on both R/C and Replica.
Another fella said that the Hurri is highly susceptible to high speed wing tip stall as the full sized one, not sure on that.

I have just got my hands on an ESM Hurricane which had been languishing in a friends garage after a mishap on landing.
I need to repair the left undercarriage mount as it was ripped out but with some time and effort it will be fine, I plan to strip back the wing and re-sheet with balsa and I was thinking about improving the wings profile which to my eye sweeps back to much from the centre section , I am going to add approx. 10-12mm of balsa to the leading edge to re profile the wing to a more scale like appearance & to my mind I doubt if it will alter the characteristics much, it will more than likely improve lift .
I also plan on repainting the whole plane in a SEAC theatre Squadron markings complete with cannons.
She will be powered by a DLE35 or a Evolution 33cc motor spinning a three blade prop.
I will keep everyone posted once I start

The DLE 35 RA Has gone in nicely and should be adequately cooled with a little in cowl ducting.

Terry,
The wheels I have used are a solid rubber type : 4 inch diameter
I have modified the hubs for a greater scale appearance .
There appears to be no manufacturers brand on the wheels .... They were purchased many years ago for a Spitfire project I had in mind.
Sorry I cannot be more specific ....

Ray.

These are Hangar 9 ARF Spitfire wheels 4.25 diameter. That's probably what I will use on my ESM Hurri,

Cheers,
